TMZ releases photo of Rihannas bruises. LAPD to investigate

TMZ released a photo of Rihanna showing disturbing bruises to her face: welts abover her eyebrows, marks on her cheek, around her lips and swelling in general.
The company did not say how they obtained the photo, when it was taken or who took it. The LAPD wants to know the answers to these questions. A police news release says it has "the appearance" of one taken during a domestic violence investigation.

Rihanna's relatives released a statement saying that she is stong and doing well but will not comment on the incident at the request of authorities.

Chris Brown turned himself in to the police on Feb. 9th after an alleged domestic incident with a female. The police have not publicly confirmed that Rihanna is the victim. Chris Brown goes to court March 5th. Rihanna is in Barbados recovering.

Interesting note:
Since the alleged incident, Rihanna has seen an increase in US sales of her Good Girl Gone Bad album. Sales of the 20-year-old star's third LP have surged by 31%

The record has risen to 31 in the US Billboard Album chart, while Chris Brown's 2007 album Exclusive failed to register in the Top 200.

Meanwhile, the singer's collaboration with T.I. 'Live Your Life' is at number 16 in the Billboard Hot 100, with solo single 'Disturbia' at 33.
