Then it was time for Rihanna. Just as quickly it was time to leave. The Barbados native was her usual intimidatingly beautiful self in a sparkling silver dress and some equally flashy hoop earrings. She and a four-piece band and pair of backup singers fumbled their way through “Disturbia” — it sure seemed like there was a lot of lip-synching and a recorded track. Then there was a five-minute break. Then, an equally awkward version of “Rehab” and half a cover of M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.” Then another stage exit. And no return. “We are experiencing power problems and are unable to continue. Rihanna would like to apologize.” What’s stopping her?

Fifteen minutes later , some crew members started breaking down the equipment on stage, the DJ fired up some tunes from when people still actually bought albums, and I left.

The Conference is comprised of exclusive and private inaugural events and activities featuring world-renowned keynote speakers and political experts, as well as public ceremonial events, such as the official swearing-in ceremony and the inaugural parade, as the President and Vice President and their families proceed down Pennsylvania Avenue from the United States Capitol Building to the White House.

Inaugural Scholars will meet and interact with White House veterans, press secretaries, political powerhouses, Washington, D.C. insiders, presidential historians, policy makers, documentary film makers and other prominent and sought-after personalities and political experts who will directly participate in the Conference.

Only alumni of the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF), the Congressional Youth Leadership Council (CYLC) and the International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) and members of select honors societies who are enrolled in a post-secondary program at the time of the conference can attend.

· Trucks will not be permitted to idle while in the loading bays.

· The Green Carpet greeting guests, provided by Bentley Prince Street, is made with 100 percent renewable electrical energy and is made of 10% consumer waste. The carpet will be completely recycled after the event.

· Even the coat check will feature reusable numbers instead of paper tags.

The Bajan Songstress popularly known for her hits "Umbrella", "Don't Stop The Music" and "Take a Bow" as well as her fashion forward sensibilities will headline the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) inauguration ball at Ibiza nightclub on Jan. 2oth, the night of the historical inauguation of Barack Obama America's first African-American president ( although to me he's mixed race, I mean the guy is half white, somehow people just seem to forget that part)

"With her unique sound and addictive melodies that have garnered numerous Grammy awards and countless other music accolades, Rihanna is the perfect fit to entertain our inauguration audience as we salute the historic Obama administration," said RIAA Chairman Mitch Bainwol in an issued statement. Other special celebrity guests and entertainers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization.

Barrington Levy has joined forces with Busta Rhymes, Kardinal Offishall and Barack Obama in his latest international collaboration. The song "No War", a Platinum Camp production, apart from echoing the messages of tolerance of Barak Obama, seeks to promote his upcoming album of the same name. The song combines the genres of Hip-Hop and Reggae with excerpts from Obamas's speeches in the background. A video is in the making. You already know its gonna be here soon as it comes out!

So I was in the streets of Roseau Dominica taking my last little foot behind WCK when I just hearing cheers from the front. Of course yes I had to see what was causing the commotion (its the journalist in me wink, wink). Everyone is glued to a TV on an upstairs restaurant balcony (here's a shameless plug House of Bar-B-Q) it's the results. They are counting the results from the American election. Dang they weren't even done, you would think Obama had won. But seriously though even though he had never received the 338 electoral votes or the 52 percent of the popular vote, 47 year old Barack Obama would still be a winner in my eyes, and those of the revellers on the streets of Roseau , and the Joe Plumers and Betty Sues and Taqueisha's and whoever else saw a piece of them in him.

Now is time for hard work. I'm not looking for any miracles from Obama. I just want him to be real, use commonsence and good judgement and never lose sight of the people who helped him secure this position. On January 20th we will again witness history when he is swon in as the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!

John McCain gave a wonderfully moving concession speech which funny enough if he was like that throughout he may have done much better. He was so believeable.. Anyways he will remain in the senate, while his running mate Sarah Palin, returns to Alaska as governor.

Speaking of carnival, regards to Mr. Selman Lewis, the Chairman of the Miami Carnival Committee, who suffered a heart attack this Monday. He is recuperating at an area hospital.

On September 30^th, the Bajan Reggae/Rock/Alternative artist David Kirton will launch his album Time For Change. Two songs, including the popular “Free to Fly” were recorded at Salaam Remi's Studios in Miami and the rest at Slam City Studios in Barbados with producers like Chris Allman and De Red Boyz

I guess distribution will be done by Nova Pinnacle, the UK's number 1 distribution company since he recently signed a deal with them.
