Mike Tyon’s 4 year old daughter Exodus has reportedly died from an accident involving a treadmill machine. As reported early this morning, Exodus’ 7 year old brother found her wrapped in a cord from the machine in the family’s home. Her mother tried to revive her with CPR and Mike was out of town at the time.
She was on life support and in critical condition. And she has reportedly died from the injury.
“The Tyson family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and support, and we ask that we be allowed our privacy at this difficult time,” the boxer said in a statement.
This is truly sad- just makes you realize how preciouse life is. R.I.P. and prayers to her family and friends.

A former Bahamas senator has been granted bail on charges she conspired to help extort $25 million from actor John Travolta after his son died from a seizure at a family vacation home. Pleasant Bridgewater is accused of plotting with an ambulance driver to demand the money in exchange for suppressing a document related to the treatment of the celebrity's son. She was not required to enter a plea at the arraignment Wednesday. The document would have released emergency responders from liability if the family refused an ambulance, but it did not come into play in 16-year-old Jett Travolta's case, according to Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Marvin Dames. Celebrity news Web site TMZ.com has reported that Travolta, an avid pilot, considered flying his chronically ill son to Florida before he was driven to the hospital on Grand Bahama island. It is unclear why the pair allegedly believed the Travoltas would pay to keep the document from being released. Bail was set at $50,000 for Bridgewater, an attorney from Grand Bahama who resigned her Senate seat following her arrest last week on charges of abetment to extort and conspiracy to extort. Her next court date was set for Feb. 11. The other suspect, paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, was among those who tried to revive Jett after he collapsed Jan. 2. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort from the movie star. The actor and his wife, Kelly Preston, returned home to Florida with the ashes of their son shortly after his death.

Legendary Trinidadian calypsonian, Kelvin "The Mighty Duke" Pope, passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with a rare blood cancer, myelofibrosis at the Ellerslie Private Hospital in St Clair. He was 76 years old.
Duke started performing in calypso tents 1964 and won the Calypso Monarch Title 4 consecutive years. His first win was in 1968 with “What is Calypso” and “Social Bacchanal.” The following year, he again captured the crown with “Black is Beautiful” and “One Foot Visina.” In 1970, performance “Brotherhood of Man” and “See Through” helped him make it a three peat. His fourth and final monarch victory came in 1971 with “Mathematical Formula” and “Melvie and Yvonne.” He lost the following year to The Mighty Sparrow
He did win road March in 1987 with his hit "Thunder"
In 1989 he received the Sunshine Award for Best Social Commentary with his song "How Many More Must Die?" and in 2006 was in ducted in the Sunshine Awards Hall Of Fame.
Jamaican artist Roy Reid has lost a battle with cancer at the age of 72.
Reid was born in 1937 in Portland, Jamaica. and became known primarily for his topical paintings, in which moralizing texts were sometimes used. This earned him the label of `grass-roots philosopher.`
He was largely acknowledged as one of the important figures among Jamaican ‘intuitive’ artists.` Like many others who paint in this tradition, Reid was self-taught and his work was steeped in spirituality, un-selfconscious and spontaneous.
He was featured in numerous publications including `Modern Jamaican Art.` Ian Randle Publishers; `Revue Noire`magazine,` and `Art Today` and Phaidon Press and received the Musgrave Bronze medal for his contribution to the Arts.
Reid was inducted into the Caribbean Development for the Arts and Culture Foundation Hall of Fame in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Mable, two sons, step-children and grand-children.
According to Yahoo News, Glenn Campbell, the assistant director of the Bahamian funeral home handling Jett Travolta's remains, says the death certificate states he was killed by a "seizure."
According to Campbell the body is in "great condition" and shows no sign of head trauma. That is despite police statements claiming the 16-year old may have hit his head on a bathtub.

John Travolta used CPR to tried to revive his son, before turning to a volunteer EMS tech for help. Travolta 54 is married to Kelly Preston 46, they have an 8 year-old daughter Ella Bleu Jett Travolta's health had made headlines before. According to his parents he became very ill when he was 2 and was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome, an illness that leads to inflamed blood vessels in young children. People Magazine claims that Preston has blamed household cleaners and fertilizers and said that a detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology helped improve his health. Travolta, a devout scientologist has been criticized for refusing to admit that Jett was autistic , as it would have required him to see a psychiatrist, something forbidden by Scientlology Jett will be buried in Ocala Florida, where the family has a residence. Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham expressed condolences to the family on behalf of his island nation.
Jamaican film maker, Dickie Jobson, known for the 1982 feature film Countryman, passed away on Christmas Day at University Hospital in Jamaica. According to IMDB the movie tells the tale of "a young woman [who]crash-lands her plane in Jamaica. A local named Countryman rescues her and leads her away from the authorities, who have fabricated a story about the plane, involving drug and arms smuggling by the CIA, in order to gain popularity in an upcoming election. ." The film was even screened at Cannes and more recently at the Reggae Film Festival this year where he was also awarded for his contribution to the film industry in Jamaica.

Apart from his role in this classic Jamaican favorite, Jobson was creator of Runaway Bay, a children's adventure television series, which ran from 1992 to 1993. The show followed a group of friends having adventures while living on the island Martinique. Remember Naomie Harris from Pirates in The Caribbean (the Jamaican lady)? She played the role of Shuku in the series. You tube is so awesome... I found a clip from Runaway Bay on the site...Never seen the show but you can look at other episodes here.
Not only intensely involved in film industry, Jobson played a significant role on the music scene. He was very close to Island Records' founder Chris Blackwell and was the first director of both Island Records and Blue Mountain Music. He managed Bob Marley and the Wailers froms, 1973-1975, as well as artists such as Joe Higgs, Jimmy Cliff and Toots Hibbert.
A man of many hats, he was once the director of The Fat Burger Inc, a popular eatery in Los Angeles, as well as a director for the Jamaican organic farming and livestock company, Allied Farms Limited.

David Alexander Smith more popularly known as "Ice," was shot in the head and chest during an argument with two men who took his keys and fled in his rented Mitsubishi Lancer. Local sources indicate that the shooting took place at a bar on Newark Avenue, off Waltham Park Road in Kingston early yesterday morning.
36 year old Smith was a member of the Black Roses Crew based on Lincoln Road in Kingston and is the third leading member to be murdered. William "Willie Haggart" Moore was gunned down by three men in front of his place of business in 2001. Four years later, the leader of the crew,Gerald 'Bogle' Levy was sitting in his truck along with four other persons when it was sprayed with bullets.
As of yet, no motive has been determined but a female is being questioned by police in relation to the incident.In 2005, Smith was arrested in connection with murder, several counts of shooting and arson committed in the Kingston West police division. He created the dance move Gully Creeper, made even more popular by Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt, who performed it after his races in Bejing.

Born in Kenya to Jamaican parents and raised in England, Jamaica and the USA, I am proud to know that I could call these two outstanding young women as friends.

I remember the first time I met Bianca, I was backing up Tremendous who at the time was performing with Yard Sound Band and the band was also backing up Neutral for some event. She was soft spoken and she was talking some serious Jamaican patios. It was crazy (not to be stereotypical) but I wasn't expecting that. And when she got on the mike, she floored me for real. Here was this slender, soft-spoken, easy going chick sounding like Bounty Killa in a skirt. With her deadly DJing style and Kyra's melodious vocals, Neutral was a winning combination. Over the years, we performed at several shows and I even got a chance to interview them for Jouvert Magazine (click HERE) to read the interview on their site. I must say to this day I only associate her with positive vibes and upliftment and humility.
Bianca went into a diabetic coma last December. Several artists in the Houston community performed at various fundraising events for her. I really thought she would make it through and just prayed that the next time I see her she would be back on stage doing her thing. Sadly, she passed two Saturdays ago. It just seems so unfair. I know people always say "well be happy that you knew her" or "everything happens for a reason" , you know those types of things. I have said those same words to others, but that really doesn't make this an easy loss to bear. She was just such a nice girl.

Condolences to Mr Vegas (born Clifford Smith) on the sudden death of his father Kenneth Maitland. Mr Maitland filled a significant gap in his life in the absence of his biological father. Mr Vegas penned the song "Mama Don't Cry" to comfort his mother during this difficult time.

Selman Vincent Lewis of Trinidad recently passed in Miami. He worked for the government of Trinidad in various Ministeries eventually landing in Miami to work with the Tourist Board. He created Mega Marketing in 1988, playing a pivotal role in marketing Miami to the Caribbean Diaspora. He was instrumental in the creation and the longevity of Miami’s annual Caribbean Carnival.. As CEO of Miami Carnival Inc he was at the helm of North America’s third largest Caribbean Carnival. Selman is survived by his wife Janet, two sons Christopher and Adrian, daughter-in-law Jerry, grandchildren Kai and Terrick and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Reggae Icon Alton Ellis, 64,finally succumbed to his battle against cancer at Hammersmith Hospital in London hospital last Friday night. He was cited as being the creator of Rock Steady in the Mid-1960s (along with keyboardist the late Jackie Mittoo). I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Alton Desiree who went missing in Brazil, especially his beautiful wife Susan.
Alton was recruited by the CBS reality show Survivor to work as a crewman after his hard work and skills were observed during his tenure on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean II and III which were shot in Dominica.
After returning home to Loubiere from a trip to Africa, Alton reconnected his love with his wife. According to details from local newspaper The Chronicle, his wife "did not want him to go when the time came. I held his hand even while he was in the departure lounge not wanting him to go...he came out giving me a hig and then went back in but returned again before returning to board his flight."'
He departed on the 9th and Susan had not heard from him which was unusual. She went on to tell the paper how she used her mind to communicate with him but somehow they just could not make contact. After several uneasy nights at home she finally got a call on the 15th. Instead of hearing the voice of the man she loved over the phone, it was a lady. A woman telling her that Alton had gone swimming and never surfaced. Susan collapsed. After an hour the woman called back to confirm that he had been found and he was dead. Now he leaves to mourn his wife and three children.
My eyes just welled up with tears when I read this in the paper. My mom told me the day I arrived in Dominica. She said she was coming from a funeral and saw alot of vehicles at their residence. I remember her introducing me to him in 2002 at the World Creole Music Festival. She seemed so happy and indeed, till his death he was her joy. My heart goes out to Susan, I have no idea the kind of pain you feel but the love you had is the love that we all seek so I know losing Alton is not an easy thing. I hope one day that you can find joy in the knowledge that you spent that precious time with him and that every time you look in your daughter Bijoux's eyes you will see her daddy!
