Jamaica originally had two skiers training for the 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver Gregg Samuels and Errol Kerr. The later took part and placed ninth out of 31 of the worlds top skiers in the world. Congrats to you and Jamaicac!

So Puma sponsors Usain Bolts press tour in New York , setting him up with Esquire Magazine, The Today Show and Late Night with David Letterman. So everybody's happy right??



Ummm, not really. At least the Caribbean and more specifically Jamaican media is cross, angry, miserable. You wanna know why right?? Of course. Well it seems that not one, of the local Caribbean Media sources in the area were sought to interview Bolt. None, zip, zilch, zero, nada. To add insult to injury, the Consul's office had a private meeting with him, along with invited guests which did not include Team Jamaica Bickle. This is an organisation that helps Jamican atheletes perform in meets around the world. These are kids that many do not know till they hit the big stage (Bolt included). TJB held a concert this year to sponsor the Bejing Team and they were not invited to this meeting. What a shame. Puma needs to get it together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, he did well on Letterman. I wish he would say yes instead of ya (I sound like my mother SMH) But, on the real, that was not a good move and if he is still in NY I hope his management corrects that!

In the original, recorded in 1969, Robert Plant sings, “I’m gonna give you every inch of my love.” But in the version that was sung, Lewis, 23, changed the words to “every bit” of my love. The band also agreed to a request from organizers to drop the third verse, which includes similar sexual innuendos, to fit in to the 8 minute performance.

She looked like she was having a rocking old time but for my part the audio sucked. I did enjoy the overall ceremony and it was pretty neat to see that London doublecab convert into the stage where she performed.

BTW is it me or does she look like she's had a nose job??? Imma have to investigate.....

I was waiting to see if Veronica Campbell-Brown would sucessfully defend her title today in the women's 200 Meters. I figured with all the hype of her fellow teammates wins it's either gonna put even more pressure on her or hype her up. I guess it was the latter because she pushed herself to the very end to beat Americn Allison Felix (who incidentally won the silver in 2004 as well) with personal best of 21.74. Felix's time clocked in at 21.93. Kerron Stewart of Jamaica rounded up the top three with a time of 22 second.

Melaine Walker makes Jamaica proud by taking gold in the women’s 400 metre hurdle race, with an Olympic record finish of 52.64 seconds, well ahead of American Sheena Tosta who ran 53.70 seconds, and won the silver medal. Britain’s Tasha Danvers, was third in a personal best of 53.84 seconds.

Usain Bolt of Jamaica broke the world record by winning the 200 meters in 19.30 seconds Wednesday night, becoming the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to sweep the 100 and 200 gold medals at an Olympics, beating the old record of 19.32 seconds set by Michael Johnson in Atlanta in 1996.
Bolt was an astonishing 0.52 seconds ahead Churandy Martina of Netherlands Antilles who along with US runner Wallace Spearmon (who would have won bronze) were disqualifed for running out of their lanes.

There was no showboating in this race. Unlike his 100 meter performance he did not slow down at the end. After doing his victory lap, he told the cameras, "I am number one" ....Oh baby that is not showboating. That's real talk ....straight up.

Usain Bolt picked a bad night to run the most electrifying 100 meter race in Olympic history. As Michael Phelps' eighth gold medal dominated television coverage, Internet sites and newspaper headlines in the United States on Saturday night, Bolt's scintillating 9.69 was buried as a second story. Normally the premiere race of every Games, the men's 100 final received scant domestic publicity despite it's historic, thrilling result.
Clearly, the 12-hour time difference played a huge role in the under-coverage of Bolt's feat. While Michael Phelps' races garnered live coverage on NBC (because it was competed in the morning in Beijing), Bolt's wasn't shown until nearly 13 hours after its completion. Even then, it felt like an afterthought to Phelps' eighth gold medal swim.
NBC is said to be worried about post-Phelps ratings for these Olympics, yet they squandered the opportunity to turn Bolt into their second-week star by dumping his race in the outer-reaches of primetime and then giving it no notice on yesterday's broadcast. Bolt's speed, charisma, youth and good looks make him a prime candidate to be the breakout star of these Games. The Peacock Network is more concerned with squeezing every last ounce of coverage out of Michael Phelps though. (Not that I blame them.)
Bolt will have the stage to himself on Wednesday when he runs the 200 and is expected to challenge Michael Johnson's 12-year old world record. Hopefully he'll get the coverage he deserves.

Speaking of, he did get many comparisons to Phelps, especially when it come to his attitude. I'm really surprised to see so many people hating on Bolt for his "cockiness" "arrogance" being a "neanderthal", some are upset that he slowed down at the end when he could have run hard all the way through and had an even better time. I think Phelps is just as competitive as Bolt and he did dome fist pumping too ,allbeit after his race, but he's no St Michael.

MY TAKE: NBC did show his race and did show a mini doc featuring the rivalry between Bolt and Asafa Powell, and coverage of the impact of the race on Jamaica. I saw the race just cause it was playing on the television where I was. For the average American or word viewer for that matter who is not too familiar with Bolt, yes NBC could definitely have featured him more, waay more......But here is my next question......

When Richard Thompson won the silver, I thought he would say something like "My fellow Trinidadian" "doing our island of Trinidad proud"....sports casters are known for being opinionated so knowing thathe has Trini roots I kind of expected that and to not hear it (unless I missed it) kind of deflated him in my eyes. He still look good under that red jacket though!

Like her male counterpart 21 year old Shelly-Ann Fraser is making history. She is definitely contributing to Jamaica's claim to the title of Fastest Country in the World. She won the women’s 100 meters Sunday night in 10.78 seconds.

She was followed by teammates Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart, who both finished in 10.98 and both collected silvers—giving Jamaica the first sweep of medals in a women’s 100 by any nation at any Olympics or world championships.

Wow...can't wait to see what these Jamaicans will do next. Gwan girls (and guys too)!!!!!

"Go Usain it's yourbig day,Go Usain its your big day", "Bolt did it OOh OOh,Bolt did it OOh, OOh", or "Go Usain Go Usain go!!!!", or how about "Wha de rasclat, mista is lightning for true".....those are some of the thoughts that came to mind upon finding out that Usain Bolt broke his own 100 meter record of 9.72 to bring Olympic gold to Jamaica with an official time of 9.69.

This is Jamaica's moment to shine, but we as Caribbean nationals should also swell with pride for our fellow islander. I can't tell you the last thing about track and field, but I know Bolt!!!!

Congrats to him on his accomplishments in the field. I can't wait to see his results in the 200 meters which istruly his specialty. Heats start on Monday with thefinal on Wednesday. He turns 22 on Thursday.
