Jamaica Star has named Tifa their star artist of the month!

The Youth View Awards were held ant the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston Jamaica last Saturday (Feb 6th). It was hosted by Teyanna Taylor, Chino and Lady Rennae. New Boyz (they sing that song "You're a Jerk") performed as did Aidonia, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Chino ("Protected" and "From Mornin" my favs). To -Isis sang their version of "I Can Transform Ya" which I am sorry I missed cause I like it, and I am sure Trevor Off Key AKA ZJ Bambino was a trip, Tessanne Chin also performed as well.

So the RETV MVP Music Video Awards finally came and went. Over 5000 viewers voted for their favorites. The top three voting countries wer Jamaica,Belize and Antigua.

Trevor Baillie: RETV MVP Icon Award for contribution to the local music video industry

The made-for TV production was hosted by Miss Kitty and featured performances from the likes of Mr Vegas, Tifa, Timberlee, Natalie Storm, Chino, gospel artiste Omari and Bramma. Among the award presenters were Sleepy Hollow Tips, Mr Vegas, Timeka Marshall, Dexter Pottinger, and RETV VJs Flava and RJ.

This past Saturday, Stone Love celebrated their anniversary as well as dolled out awards to several artists in the industry.
The coveted titles of Deejay of the Year Male and Female went to Vybz Kartel and D'Angel respectively, while Mavado was named Singjay of the Year.Best New Artiste, Male and Female went to Konshens and Pamputae respectively. The award for Singer of the Year wnt to Etana (Femaile) and Serani (Male), and Stone Love selector, Diamond was named Employee of the Year.

It was interesting to note that there was no award for Song of the Year. Not too sure the reason. Some reggae tunes I enjoyed this year include: Etana "Don't Forget", Tarrus Riley "Far Away", Richie Stephens "Come to Jamaica", Gyptian "I can Feel Your Pain", Tifa "Bottom of De Barrell", Busy Signal "Tic-Toc", Serani "No Games", Mavado "I'm So Special", ya...I could go one and on as you can see my list is all encompassing, sometimes I just like the beat and the melody ....those are just a few of the songs I'm digging. I could go on and on..
