The International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) Caribbean Chapter President Ms. Diana McIntyre-Pike, appointed Miss Caribbean Tourism, Falesha Raquel and the Miss Caribbean Tourism Organization, its Goodwill Ambassador for Community Tourism in the Caribbean. Ms. Raquel, who is of Jamaican descent, is the first to hold the title of Miss Caribbean Tourism. She was one of 11 contestants who took part in the pageant in Canada last year.
She recently made a trip to the south coast of Jamaica (her first visit to the island) accompanied by travel companion Fatima Zain from the Canadian Sri Lankan community.That particular location was chosen "to help encourage, promote, and develop Community Tourism as a major vacation destination" says Ms. Racquel
According to The Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant Founder/CEO Ms. Heather Christian-Simmonds, "The purpose of the Miss Caribbean Tourism Pageant organization is to foster leadership through education, celebrate Caribbean women, celebrate Caribbean culture, honor Caribbean cultural icons and promote community tourism in the Caribbean."
