Ms. Cecilia Fitz-Charlery, owner of Sache cosmetics and Beauty Supplies has successfully hosted the Miss Earth Pageant in St Lucia for 8 years and is bringing it to Dominica.The Miss Earth Dominica Committee is seeking young ladies between the ages of 18 to 23 who will be interested in representing the Nature Isle at the Miss Earth Pageant in the Philippines in October 2009.
CRITERIA
*Submission of a 500 word essay on the Environment
*Registration fee of $125
*Single (never been married or given birth to a baby)
*Min. height 5 feet finches *Weight 90-145 lbs
*Possess inner and outer beauty and proportionate body structure
*Outgoing and friendly
*Excellent physical condition
*Has knowledge of her county's culture and environment
*Holder of tertiary education certification or college graduate
*No tattoos or scars
Carousel Productions organized and launched the first Miss Earth pageant in 2001. Along with Miss Universe and Miss World, it is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world. Titleholders dedicate the year of their reign to promote environmental projects and issues and causes.
In 2003 the pageant adopted the slogan "Beauties for a cause" and the following year the Miss Earth Foundation was created to further the pageants environmental mandate with special focus on youth awareness.
The Miss Earth winner is the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and other environmental organizations. The reigning Miss Earth is Miss Philippines Karla Henry. Click HERE to see the Caribbean nations that took part at last year's event!
Dominica is the Nature Isle so I think it is definitely fitting that we are represented at the pageant. Does Marah Walter still qualify????? I so want to see her on the international stage.
Miss Fitz-Charlery is St. Lucian but splits her time between Dominica and St. Lucia I'm sure she can claim Dominica as home. Great going lady!!!!
