Billed as the greatest entertainment event to date in Africa, the concert will be staged at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg and feature musical performances by international superstars in collaboration with major African artists, as well as football legends from the past and the present, as well as celebrities from other fields.
This three-hour celebratory extravaganza, which will bring together the two universal passions of football and music before a capacity stadium audience of 30,000, will be broadcast to millions more worldwide. It is scheduled to begin at 8.00pm local time (GMT+2) on 10 June.
FIFA has selected Emmy Award-winning producer Kevin Wall and his company Control Room to organise and produce the concert. Control Room has masterminded some of the world’s biggest and most complex events, such as Live Earth 2007, which featured 150 artists performing on seven continents over the course of 24 hours to raise awareness of climate change.
“We believe sports and music transcend cultural, language and geographic barriers, and through the official FIFA World Cup Kick–off Celebration Concert, Control Room will present the sights and sounds of unity and celebration for an unforgettable, must-see experience,” said Wall.
All net proceeds from the concert will be donated to “20 Centres for 2010”, the Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, which aims to build 20 centres across Africa offering education and healthcare services as well as football training to disadvantaged communities.

Jamaican Dancehall artist Beenie Man was granted bail today after being charged with assault resulting in bodily harm, after allegedly assaulting fellow entertainer LA Lewis. Beenie Man along with selector Rolexx were charged and given bail set at $100,000.
The sad thing is this happened right after the funeral of Oneil Edwards on Saturday. Sources say Lewis was driving with his head out the vehicle window, and ran into Beenie's Audi Q7. Now anyone who knows of or has ever met L.A Lewis know he is full of chat, and that supposedly is what he did after hitting the car. Beenie got out of his vehicle and physically assaulted him...
Please people...no matter how irritating someone can get...don't assault them...especially public figures-let your people deal with his people.
Beenie left on a 22-city European Tour this week.

The deejay is to embark on a 22-show European tour which will kick off in Paris. He is set to leave the island today.

I am a fan of Rihanna's- I like her edgy fashion, her daring hairstyles, her flawless makeup and of course her music. Yes, I even like the tone of her voice. But I gotta say I was ROTFL when I saw these clips on You Tube of her doing the moonwalk and falling during some performances.
Take a look:
During a show Saturday at Color Line Arena (formerly O2 World Hamburg) in HamburgRihanna tries to moonwalk in heels- I say she was just walking backwards man...yow she should never do that again, ever, ever, ever!!!!!
On Monday, Riri took a fall at the London's O2 Arena, during the beginning of her Spanish ballad "Te Amo." Ouch.
Three is the charm right?? Lol. Here she is in Marseille where she almost busted her face while sing... uh I mean synching "Let Me"

With two new tracks and a three-continent tour for April, Jamaican dancehall superstar Sean Paul is keeping quite busy these days. Sean Paul, who returned from performances in Africa recently, is also toasting the success of his single with British-born pop sensation Jay Sean, Do You Remember, which is featured on the iconic pop music compilation Now That’s What I Call Music.
Sean Paul’s two newest singles, "Fire Brigade" and "Down The Line," are destined as sure-fire club pleasers. "Down The Line", produced by Jeremy Harding, is a reggae-flavoured slow-melody love song which is featured on his popular mixtape The Oddessy. The Don Corleone-produced "Fire Brigade", however, is an unmistakable dancehall tune with all the up-tempo energy party lovers clamour for and that which Sean Paul has become famous for.
Sean Paul is rearing to hit the road and promote these two new tracks. “Working with Don and Jeremy is just amazing. They are creative people and good at what they do. I know anytime I go in the studio with them I leave with a good song. Down The Line is getting good reviews so far and so is Fire Brigade so its time to kick the promotion for these singles into high gear,” Sean Paul said.
He added that the singles will soon be available on iTunes, and that the producers were two of the producers who did tracks for his album Imperial Blaze. The album, his fourth, went on to make history on the charts as it became the first dancehall album to top the Billboard Rap/Hip Hop charts.
His newly released singles aside, the Grammy-winning megastar has been racking up the frequent flyer miles and performance hours. Sean Paul has performed in more than 80 countries in North, Central, and South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Paul will return to the dancehall-loving nation of Japan, where Imperial Blaze debuted at #1 selling over 50,000 copies in its first week. He has a string of appearances in Japan, before he heads to engagements in Columbia and Australia. These are hectic times for the artiste, who now sports a trendy Mohawk.
Sean Paul is a multi-platinum selling deejay many times over, and the most successful Jamaican artiste on the international charts. He’s had three #1 singles, five top ten hits, and even more chart entries over four worldwide best-selling albums, which have sold more than tens of millions of copies worldwide. In 2009, he copped the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act, as well as, Best Reggae Artiste award at the Soul Train Awards. He adds those trophies to an impressive collection of awards that includes a Grammy, MTV Music Video Award, Billboard Music Award, American Music Award, MTV Europe Music Award, MOBO, BET Award and others.

Rihanna's reps says shes ok... hospital scare was over bruised rib
Rihannawas rushed to the hospital after performing in Switzerland on Monday night and of course that had everyone wondering what the heck had happened to her?
It seems after performing at the concert in Zurich, she was rushed to the ER in a black Mercedes accompanied by a camp of bodyguards, drivers and assistants.
In a recent update on People.com the 22 year old singer's rep says she"had an injured rib and went to have it looked at to be sure it was nothing serious, and it wasn't,"
Rihanna continued the European leg of her "Last Girl on Earth" tour Tuesday night with a concert in Lyon, France, and is expected to play in Marseille on Wednesday.
According to Billboard:
Pitbull and AEG Live will bring his "Mr. Worldwide's Carnaval" tour to 19 cities in the U.S. this summer, in what will be the bilingual rapper's biggest domestic tour to date. The U.S. tour starts May 25 at Denver's 1stBank Center and wraps June 27 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom. The club, theater and arena shows have an average capacity of 3,400 people and will likely have an opening act to be determined. In keeping with the Carnaval theme, the production will include Brazilian dancers as well as a live band; merch will be handled by Bandmerch. Pitbull will be touring in between the releases of his Spanish album, “Armando,” slated for release sometime in June on Mr. 305/Sony Latin, and his English follow-up on Mr. 305/Polo Grounds/RCA, which will likely come out in the fall, according to manager Charles Chavez. "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" is at No. 22 this week on Billboard's Hot 100 Recurrent Airplay chart. Pitbull also has four songs on this week's Latin Rhythm digital songs chart: "I Know You Want Me" (at No. 1); "Watagatapitusberry," featuring Sensato del Patio, Black Point, Lil Jon and El Cata; "Culo," featuring Lil Jon; and "Blanco," featuring Pharrell. His "Egoista," with Mexican pop singer Belinda, is No. 40 on Hot Latin Songs. The tour will be heavily marketed with consistent imagery across English and Spanish media, and will include heavy street team and club promotion. "He is very much that universal party act," says Rebeca Leon, VP of Latin talent for AEG Live/Goldenvoice. "Because he’s so universal and he plays to so many audiences, it’s very hard to put your arms around it. It’s a blessing but you have to be really savvy." Another key part of the tour strategy is low ticket prices, at an average of $34, according to Leon. Another idea in the works? Afterparties, in which fans can buy an add-on to their ticket for the chance to party with Pit at a club after the concert. Chavez says Pitbull has grown out of the club circuit, where he had made "a decent amount of money." But for bigger venues, "his price went down to prove he could sell tickets," says Chavez. Pitbull's U.S. trek will include additional dates at Six Flags parks in Connecticut, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Atlanta and Charlotte. Pitbull will perform at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Telemundo on April 29 in the midst of an international tour that will take him to Australia, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Cara Lewis and Michel Vega at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment represented Pitbull in booking his tour. Here are Pitbull’s U.S. tour dates: May 25-Denver 1stBank Center May 27-San Diego Sports Arena May 28-Los Angeles Nokia Theatre May 29-San Francisco Warfield May 30-Las Vegas Beach at Mandalay Bay June 2-Phoenix Celebrity Theatre June 3-El Paso El Paso Coliseum June 5-Laredo Laredo Events Center June 6-McAllen Kai June 9-Corpus Christi Concrete Street Amp June 10-Houston Club Escapade June 11-Dallas Nokia Theatre June 12-Austin Austin Music Hall June 13-New Orleans TBD June 16-Atlanta Six Flags June 17-Charlotte Six Flags June 18-Virginia Beach NorVA June 19-Jackson, NJ Six Flags June 20-Boston Club Lido June 23-Connecticut Six Flags June 24-New York City Nokia Theatre June 25-DC Six Flags June 26-Detroit Motor City Casino June 27-Chicago Aragon Ballroom

Here's a little sometin to get u in top form for Pitbull's show!!! Enjoy.
Ya I know I recently posted that Nicki Minaj was touring with Rihanna and Ke$ha. Seems she will not be on the tour after all....
Why? Well she tweeted that it's to work on her album.
“Barbz I'm sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRi's tour. I've decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album. Hope u understand.
Not sure about that, I would not let an opportunity like that go. It's where you test your skills, where you connect with fans, and a sure way to get paid. Good luck with the album my girl.
Rihanna will hit the road this summer for her "Last Girl On Earth Tour" and she's tapped two of her famous lady friends to join her.

The 25-date tour will also make stops in Canada, Tampa, L.A., New York and Las Vegas. Tickets will go on sale at LiveNation.com on Friday (April 9). Additional dates will be announced soon.

On a previous post I mentioned that Ky-Mani Marley was at issue with co-writer of his autobiography, Dr. Farrah Gray whom he asked to make some changes as regards the book. It seems they have smoothed over the issues as Both men are heavily promoting the book tour. In addition the title has been changed. It now is Dear Dad: The Marley Son Who Persevered From The Streets To Prominence.

From July 1 to August 30th, Jamaican Lover's Rock Icon and Garmmy-nomintated reggae crooner Beres Hammond will make his second trek across the United States and Canada for his highly anticipated encore tour.
Fans can look forward to hearing his timeless classics as well as current hits from his VP Records album A Moment In Time released late last year.
Known to many as the originator of “Lover’s Rock” or the “Otis Redding of Reggae,” Beres Hammond has been writing, producing and pouring out his smoky-sweet voice over every kind of riddim track for over three decades. He has repeatedly sold out some of the country’s largest and most prestigious venues (Theatre at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall). He has paved the way for many musicians today and is a favorite of Wyclef Jean, Carl Thomas and Alicia Keys.
From his early days as the lead singer of the ‘70s funk-reggae infused band Zap Pow, Beres has consistently produced hits and number one singles. While newcomers today are searching for a breakthrough hit and old timers are plotting their comeback, Beres is a study in longevity. He released his first studio album, Soul Reggae in 1976 spawning the number one hit “One Step Ahead” and in 1985 the dancehall breakthrough “What One Dance Can Do” off his self entitled album. He has collaborated with Reggae’s elite—Marcia Griffiths and Buju Banton who are virtually staples on any Beres tour—and has worked with legendary producers Willie Lindo, Steely and Clevie, and Philip “Fattis” Burrell, to name a few. In 1990, his album A Love Affair from Donovan Germain's Penthouse label raised his popularity to new heights. Cuts like “Tempted To Touch” and “Who Say” with Buju Banton are still huge in the dancehall today. During the ‘90s, Beres blazed a trail of modern classics for a variety of producers, from the strugglers' anthem “Putting Up Resistance” (Tappa) to lovers' laments like “Come Back Home” (Star Trail). In 2001, Beres brought us major hits like “They Gonna Talk” and “Rock Away” from his Grammy nominated album Music is Life. VP Records then released The Ultimate Collection: Can’t Stop A Man in 2003 to commemorate Hammond’s career, and his 2004 album Love Has No Boundaries, which featured his familiar romantic ballads and mid-tempo dancehall grooves.
