One thing I must say, it's sad that in this day an age that I cannot find a Facebook, Myspace or official website for this pageant. Organizers really need to work on their online presence. If you are promoting Caribbean integration, then afford those within the region who cannot attend the show to still feel like they are a part of it.
Check out Iyaz' feature on Mashup Mondays singing Green Day's "21 Guns"
Tere's something about Green Day: those guys go hard," says R&B newcomer Iyaz, who chose the punk trio's 2009 single "21 Guns" to mashup with his sweetened tenor. You wouldn't guess it, but the singer, who scored his first Pop Songs No. 1 in January with "Replay," is a big Green Day fan. "I've been listening to them for years... so I said why not do a cover [and] show my appreciation for their music."
Iyaz was attracted specifically to Green Day's rocking power ballad "21 Gun," a No. 3 hit on the Alternative Songs chart (and No. 5 on Rock Songs), because "I feel free when I listen to that song."

International renowned singer and actor Tyrese will make his debut appearance in the Caribbean with an enticing performance at the Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 6 through Saturday, August 8.
Chairman of the Committee Stuart Donovan said: “We decided to add a bit of twist this year by having an R&B artiste, and we are confident that people will appreciate it.”
Tyrese will be performing on the last evening, Saturday, August 8, while international reggae artiste Maxi Priest will take centre stage on Friday, August 7.
Other artistes to grace the stage of the much anticipated Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta include Trinidad and Tobago Soca Monarch Faye Ann-Lyons; “Fire Man” Bunji Garlin; Shurwayne Winceshter; USVI’s Jam Band and Antigua’s King Swallow. Showtime Band, Jalena, Jamsey P, Rudy, CB4 Lyfe and Extreme Band are among the many local acts that will create the festive vibe.
The committee has always been famous for the cultural aspects and this year is no exception. Donovan said that apart from the cultural presentation and torch light procession, the committee is planning to have a mini-museum opposite the Festival Ground where the ruins of a slave plantation still stand.
The lists of slaves who were enslaved on that plantation circa 1818 will be on display along with other artifacts used during that period.
“We thought this would also pique the interest of persons and add a touch of authenticity to our cultural programme,” the chairman disclosed.
Prior to the opening ceremony, which will commence at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, fishermen will bring in their haul and battle for trophies and prizes in the annual Fisherman’s Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held in honour of Hezekiah Stoutt, a 74-year-old fisherman, who hails from Long Bay and still enjoys his fishing expeditions.
On Friday, August 7, beginning from 12 noon, the family-oriented activities begin in full swing, and include donkey races, tug of war, children’s races and plait pole before the likes of Extreme Band, Bunji Garlin, Fayann Lyons and Maxi Priest hit the stage.
The power boat races, sponsored by Synergy, will lead off Saturday’s daytime events, which culminates with performances from Jamsey P, Jalena, Rudy, Showtime Band, Shurwayne Winchester and Tyrese.
Admission on Thursday is FREE. Admission for Friday and Saturday is $20.
CCT is the platinum sponsor for the Cultural Fiesta.

Remember Tamia Bobadilla-Pickering???? I mentioned on the site earlier this year that she was to star in Toddlers and Tiaras, theTLC reality show. I kept checking and checking and the one week I did not check was the week it aired...bummer. Well she was featured on GMA last week. Read below!
Saw this on BVI Platinum News:
Tortola’s own Tamia Bobadilla-Pickering, Miss Darling Diva has returned from a hectic trip to the USA following her appearance on the set of ABC's Good Morning America television show.
The young beauty along with the other winners of the pageant who were invited to the show on April 15th amazed the crowd with their confidence and beauty. They where also treated to a tour of ABC’s studio.
Mother of Pickering, Keshia Pickering who introduced the girls at the show, told the audience of the beauty of the BVI.
Following the show, she told BVI Platinum News that the producer has since informed her that they have received a number of calls from places like the Bahamas and Germany for more information on the BVI. The callers also said they were amazed by the little girls.
The appearance was part of Tamia's duties as the reigning Miss Diva Doll division Queen.
In the past, the producers of the show have asked some of the reigning Queens to be on camera for a brief interview.
Pickering also disclosed that Tamia has since been offered to do work for two modeling agencies but lamented that she could not have take up the offers since they wanted Tamia to live in the USA.
However, she said that they are negotiating on how she can do part-time work for the agencies.
Miss Bobadilla-Pickering who won the Miss Darling Diva Crown for the three year-old division, had also cupped the winner of the Miss Popularity crown. This category had attracted some 44 contestants.
She also won crowns and trophies for her division in the Casual Wear, Mardi Gras Wear, Evening Wear and Miss Intellect competitions.
