Well, it seems being banned from the US is stop stopping American label DefJam from singing a reportedly 7-figure deal with Belizean rapper Shyne who recently was released from prison. He will supposedly be working from the UK. Seems he also signed a management deal with HipHopSince1978, the same team that manages Lil Wayne, Jeezy and Drake.

Not that you need to be reminded but Shyne went to prison for the whole fracas involving JLo and Diddy in a 199 shooting incident at a nightclub.

He recently released a song with DJ Kahled, Mavado and Akon and called "All My Life" on the Bug Riddim. I really don't know what to make of it - he just doesn't sound the same.

Compare to his breakout hit "Bad Boys" with Barrington Levy off his 200 album Shyne. Wicked Chuuuneeee.....bap, bap, bap!!!!!

According to MTV UK, Akon will be one of the producer's on X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke's debut album in November.

Akon has already worked with Leona Lewis and told tabloid newspaper The Daily Star: "I've had calls to work with Alex and I'm going to do it. I love the X Factor and I love helping to break new artists."

When you put Akon and Caribbean in the same sentence, one might conjure up ideas of the little rag doll he was dragging on the stage (sorry that was not dancing) in Zen at a Trinidad performace.

But really though, I have to give him props for working with so many talented artists from the region. He has produced songs for Leona Lewis (a former X-factor winner herself) and worked with Rihanna, and Alicia Keys. He has signed to his Konvict label: Kardinall Offishall, Tami Chynn, Rock City (check out their track "Losin It"-Love it), and Brick andLace. Sean Kingston was recently featured in his latest video "Beautiful".

Serani is definitely the man ofthe hour as a headliner of the Metro PCS/Hot 97 5 Boro Takeover Tour

On March 20th, he will be at Amazura in Queens with Buju Banton and Elephant Man. Though I lived in Texas which has no Metro PCS (that I am aware of,) as Dominicans would say,it was making ding dang in Florida. Of course there is a significant Caribbean population in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. I am sure that that is the basis for using these West Indian / Urban artists for their New York launch.

The Metro PCS Tour stops at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, on March 25th, where Serani will be joined by Alliance colleague Mavado, as well as Akon, Busta Rhymes and Estelle.

Shontelle is featured on the Confessions of A Shopaholic Soundtrack, in a duet with Akon called "Stuck With Each Other." The song was written by Diane Warren wow. She is soo good some the songs she has penned include: “Un-Break My Heart,” “How Do I Live,” “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing.” Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins produced the track.

Shontelle's debut single “T-Shirt” was one of late 2008’s major break-outs
staying in the Top 20 of the U.S. national mainstream pop radio charts for months in late 2008, and digital sales of the single now approach 600,000. The track has been streamed over 32 million times on her MySpace page.

Singer Tami Chynn has logged her first entry on any Billboard singles chart. "Frozen", her duet with hip hop star Akon has jumped from number 16 to number 11 on Billboard-s Dance Music Club Play listing. The track is also burning up dance radio, as it hops to number 20 on Billboard-s Dance Music Airplay tally.

She is signed to Akon's Kon-Live Label which is distributed by Universal Music's Geffen. Guess its a fruitful relationship seeing as she just scored a Pepsi commercial , which also features Akon's vocals. She will be going on tour with New Kids On The Blockm and Natasha Bedingfield.

Look out for her new album Prima Dona set for release in early 2009
