In a collaborative effort to market Bajan artists in the region and the international market, some of Barbados' leading entertainers-Edwin Yearwood, Khiomal, Adrian Dutchin, Lil' Rick, Peter Ram, Biggie Irie and Mr. Dale came together to form Barbados 246.



It is a musical production with aim to "showcase thepast and present repertoire of the artistes as well as the diverse talents of the islands leading entertainers," according to the official press release.

Barbados 246 cast can only be seen at selected events during the Crop Over season. There are also plans for a Barbados 246 soca compilation CD featuring songs released for the Crop Over season from the main acts. It will be available at all events where they perform at local record stores and online at CD Baby, GotRhythm.com and trinidadtunes.com

Lil Rick's track "Girls Gone Wild" will be appearing in a 2009 promotional compilation created or the Conference of Culture and Creation and Development Factors in Brussels this year. Organized by the European Commission, the compilation will feature artists from the countries of the ACP. These are Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific nations.

The triple CD will be distributed to participants of the symposium, Ministers of Culture in the ACP and delegates from the European Commission amongst others. This is a major step towards bringing this fantastic artist to the forefront of the mainstream music industry.

Here are some of our fav celebs out and about. Lil Rick celebrated his birthday in New York and Barbados. There's one pic here but trust me there are more to follow. Umm what else Triple K at Red Cross Headquarters on World AIDS Day. I took a pic in Roseau with Aima that day as well. Barbadian entertainer Lil Rick will be celebrating his birthday with an extravagant celebration in New York City this month. Since his birthday coincides with Barbados' Independence celebrations, this event apart from celebrating his birth, will also pay homage to those who paved the way for Barbados' Independence.



The event will be held at The Base Nightclub in Brooklyn, New York on Thanksgiving Saturday, November 29.

Slated to perform along with the “Hypa Dawg” are Edwin Yearwood of Krosfyah and Peter Coppin of Monstapeice. New York deejays Supa Roy, Hypa Bajan and Hardcore will also be featured at the show. Tickets are readily available in the Brooklyn and Queens areas as they are heavily populated with Barbadian and those of Barbadian extract.
