Nas recently had an interview with VIBE where he spoke about getting to see his son Knight. Sounds like he and Kelis are still on bad terms. Read more below:

Speaking of babies, this was the first time since making Illmatic that you became a dad again. How’d it feel to be awaiting you first son while recording Distant Relatives?
It’s amazing. It just made everything feel like it was right on time, you know? To have a daughter is amazing too, but when you’re a man, to have a son is different. My daughter is my princess and now I have a prince, so it’s a beautiful thing to have a son and a daughter. Now I have a little man. It’s the coolest shit ever.

How old is Knight? Is he walking yet?
He’s like nine months. He’s crawling, pulling himself to stand up. He said the word ‘stick’ about a month ago. He’s been talking for about two months, saying little words here and there.

How often are you able to see him?
My son was born with ice grills, so when his mom feels in the mood she sends pictures. If not, its hell. It’s hell trying to figure that out, trying to get him—I’ll just leave it at that. It’s hell. A man shouldn’t go through that shit, but it’s another story I’ma tell at a different time.

The magazine also asked about his tattoo of Kelis:

Do you feel a certain way about having the tattoo now after everything that’s been going on?
[Laughs] I don’t really think about tattoos, I just think about adding more, you know what I’m saying?

Do you think you’d ever get another tattoo like that?

That's messed up man. That's his prince. Parents, even famous ones have to work things out for the sake of the child. Knight is no more hers than his.

According to TMZ, Nas through his lawyer has indicated that he cannot keep upwith spoual and child support payments:

Last month Nas was ordered to pay more than $87,000 in back spousal and child support. The judge also ordered him to pay Kelis $10,000 a month in spousal support to stay current. It's unclear how much Nas is required to pay in monthly child support.

Nas says in the new legal docs obtained by TMZ ... the judge predicated the order on Nas making $152,031 a month, but the rapper says he makes "substantially less than that amount."

Damn...can they just work this out already...sheesh.

The Nas and Damian Marley show in London has been canceled as a result of the shutdown on flights in the U.K.

However, travel restrictions have been lifted and flights began landing again in the U.K. on Tuesday night (April 20). The volcanic ash from Iceland closed U.K. airspace for six days, and across Europe more than 95,000 flights were canceled.

The TCO-promoted Nas and Damian Marley Show at the Electric Ballroom has been canceled, though. They have collaborated on the "Distant Relatives" (Island) album, out May 17. Tickets will be valid for the July 20 London Hammersmith show.

Melissa Auf der Maur had to cancel shows last weekend in Oslo and London, where she had a sold-out date at Cargo. But she has been traveling across sea and land to make a newly-booked date at London Jazz Café today (April 21). There is also an April 21 screening of the film accompanying the new album, "Out Of Our Minds" (Roadrunner), and a Q&A at London's ICA.

LCD Soundsystem had to pull its Dublin dates but the act said on Twitter "we will make it to London." They traveled from L.A. to Spain and will continue to the U.K. for April 23 at Brixton Academy.

Other acts have been unable to make shows in Europe. Swedish act Nina Kinert and U.K. band Delphic both canceled French shows, and Bobby McFerrin pulled his April 18 Paris gig, which is rescheduled for May 3.

U.K. singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner has been stuck in Hong Kong. His April 21 Paris show has been postponed to June 14.

Yesterday Nas went to court and had to fork over some serious stacks of dough to Kelis. Read below:

According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Nas had to immediately fork over $47,249.42 in back child support and $40,454 in back spousal support.

The judge also ordered Nas to pay $10,000/month in spousal support until he pays off the $299,015.50 he owes Kelis.

Nas also has to pay 90% of Kelis' legal fees in the amount of $155,787.28.

Lastly, Nas has to pay $48,549.83 to cover Kelis' accounting expenses.

The lesson, as always -- when Laura Wasser reps your ex, settle as quickly as possible. Nas just learned that the hard way.

Nas denies contempt charges

Posted by Ayeola | 2/21/2010 07:43:00 PM

Nas pled not guilty to contempt of court, based on charges from his wife (through her lawyers) that he has failed to pay $200,000 in court ordered child and spousal support.

The couple split up while Kelis was seven months pregnant with their son Kinght and he was ordered to pay $51,000.00 a month in child and spousal support.

The judge will make his decision in March and if Nas is found guilty he will join a list of hip-hop stars who are going to jail this year.

Das menions his problems with his ex on his track with Damian Marley entitled "Strong Will Continue." In it he says, “How in the hell am I supposed to stay comfy/ When I pay child support, alimony monthly…” “So I’ve stuck with some married women so fine, cheating while their husband rushing on the 40-yard line/ Wonder if this is what my ex did the whole time….”

“This is for the strong,” Nas shouted. “This is for Haiti!”

I am so glad that Chris Brown is on somebody's stage. They boy is talented and I think he deserves to contribute to the event. I love the song "Crawl" which he performed and it is definitely inspiring.

The show ended with a "Lean On Me" sing-a-long by hosts Diddy, Pharell and Queen Latifah. They were joined on stage by the performers and other stars such as Sean Kingston and Gloria Estefan.

Nas Kelis reunite????

Posted by Ayeola | 9/15/2009 02:45:00 PM

Pictures say it all right? Or do they....
Backstory-Kelis and Nas were Hip Hop's royal couple (to some anyways there are people who prefer him to Jay-Z aight) so she and him divorce after two years of marrigage and while she is about to give birht. Long story short money becomes a HUGE issue and Kelis is asking for some serious dough. Seems like its gonna a a knock-down-dragout rite??? Well I'm not so sure.

They seem pretty happy...or at least she does. Maybe the settled out of court. Anyhow she was celebrating his birhtday with him....we'll see how it develops. I personally would be glad if they worked things out. A two parent home is the ideal. Bite me.

From Headline Entertainment:

It's not a Nas performance, and it's not a Damian Marley performance, it's going to be a Nas and Damian Marley combination, specially for Reggae Sumfest,” says Johnny Gourzong, Executive Director of Summerfest Productions.

Gourzong said that the pairing was the result of extensive thought by the Reggae Sumfest team as to how else to make this year's event special.

He emphasized that this is the first time that Nas will be performing in Jamaica, and added that it “will be an even more special performance since he will be performing with one of our brightest stars in Reggae music, a son of the great Robert Nesta Marley, and on the stage of Reggae Sumfest.

I'm excited, they are working on a collaborative album, and the sounds of reggae with the beats of hip-hop should make for a great performance."Another confirmed international act that will be rocking the Reggae Sumfest stage will come in the form of R&B sensation Jazmine Sullivan on Friday, July 24.

“We are arranging for other international performers, but we're not ready to release who we're considering. You'll just have to wait a little longer.” Gourzong teased. The Festival, which starts with a beach party on Sunday July 19 and then has three nights of pulsating live performances from Thursday July 23 to Saturday July 25, will also feature, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Etana, Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal, Charley Blacks, I-Octane and a host of other local talents. When Saturday July 25 rolls around, Summerfest Productions promises an exciting close to the highly anticipated Reggae Sumfest. Montego Bay will be on fire from July 19-25 with the 17th staging of the world's greatest reggae festival, so get ready to be infected by Reggae Sumfest fever.
