Machel Montano won a total of 8 Soca Awards in the following categories: Male Soca Performer of the Year, Overall Male Soca Artist of the Year, Favorite Up-tempo Soca Male (Jumbie)Best Soca Music Video of the Year (Jumbie), Soca Artist Album/CD of the Year for Book of Angels. Best Raga Soca Collaboration (with Vybz Kartel) and Best Soca Collaboration Up-tempo (with Patrice Robets). He also received the Soca Awards Organization Trustees Award.
Special mention must be made of Tizzy of Antigua who won in the Female Soca Performer of the Year and Best New Female Soca Artist with her hot track Expose!
The awards were held on Sunday September 2nd at Rum Jungle in New York.
