Dominican-born, UK Attorney General, Baroness Patricia Janet Scotland, has for six months employed Ms Otolose Loloahi Tapui as a full-time housekeeper and dog walker. Apparently she has overstayed her year-long student visa by three years and was living in Britain illegally.
A spokesman for the baroness said she had ‘never knowingly employed employed an illegal immigrant’, adding: ‘Ms Tapui is understood to be married to a British national.'

This is the on air report from 7 News in Belize about Moses Levivy's (the artist more popularly known as Shyne) visit at a local prison. I am glad to see that he is trying to make a positive impact in the community. He is not bitter, just trying to live his life and be an example.
Moses Leviy, or Shyne as you may know him, was deported to Belize on October 28th and made his first public comments at Wesley College on Monday November 2nd. But since then Belize’s most famous deportee has kept a low profile, shuttling quietly between his penthouse at the Renaissance Tower and a San Pedro resort. But today Shyne was back in the spotlight. He traded in his Harvard University gear for a crisp white guayabera. The occasion was an event for youth week at the Hattieville Prison and 7News was there from start to finish. Keith Swift has the story.Keith Swift Reporting,In the escort of four prison guards and two of his own security – at 10 am Shyne strode into the compound of the Hattieville Prison not as an inmate but as an inspiration for an audience of 400 prisoners.
Moses Leviy,“Who would have ever thought that a young dude from Curassow Street who used to dump faeces outside the back would make it to the highest level in America culture. I made $30 million…I did records with Usher, Justin Timberlake. I shot a video when I was in jail, not saying you guys should do that but anything is possible. We talking about no, we ain’t going to sit here and cry, you got to come up with a plan. That’s what I did.”
But Shyne or Moses Leviy says he didn’t come behind these prison walls to preach. He said he came to talk to inmates, to impart the knowledge that he knows firsthand of what’s it’s like to live behind prison walls.

"As I look into the audience I see myself. I see Shyne in everyone of you. From
the start of my life, the odds have been against me just like you.
I am not
special. I didn’t have no family. I never saw my mother, my mother was cleaning
somebody else’s house and taking care of somebody else’s kid. I didn’t have
nobody but I didn’t let that stop me. And even after selling millions of records
and being Shyne they would have been lined up for me. My last album was called
Godfather Buried Alive. You why? Because when you go to jail it is like you are
dead. But still no excuses. I didn’t make no excuses.
I sat down, I said okay
yeah, this is what I am going to do. I understood I made mistakes, I accepted
responsibility for my mistakes. I didn’t blame nobody else for my mistakes. It
wasn’t my co-defendant’s fault that I shot somebody in the club. I did
that.
Over the last ten years instead of worrying abut what this one is doing
or what that one is doing, who is responsible for me being there, I took
responsibility and I spent the ten years planning what my future was going to be
and you have the same power to do that. I know you do because like I said I look
into your eyes and I see myself.
I could do it, if I could spend ten years
which is like death row, I am telling you because in the music business I can’t
even remember who was rapping ten years ago. So for me to be out here and for me
to still be calling A-Rod after he won the World Series, for me to still be
moving and shaking, calling Rihanna and finding out what she’s going to wear
when she’s coming to see me in Belize, that shows that you could do
anything.”
After the speech he was then whisked off to the prison’s conference room for a private meeting with prison management. They were later joined by accused killers Arthur Young and Errol Haynes. That was closed to the press but after, Shyne did return to the ceremony for a question and answer segment – though as you can tell from his facial expression we weren’t welcome. Shyne left after answering a few questions but his impression lingered.

“Me personally speaking, me of my understanding, I could relate to what the man said and I could see myself in the man in the sense that I won’t lean on self-pity, I won’t take that self-pity style and say I done deh that jail and I done mess up, I don’t dh yah for a crime I done commit and whatever and wallow in that pity. I will utilize that as a turning, like in layman’s term, turning a stumbling block into a stepping stone.”
And if for only that realization – today’s visit may have been a success.
About 400 inmates were present. 47 of those inmates were from the Wagner’s Youth Facility at Kolbe.

"When I came in the club, the place just get gigi, the people were excited mi coulda feel dem energy. Tifa came over and she was very supportive. She said she didn't know I was a Sagitarius like her and she was very kind to me and bought me a drink. I danced and had a good time, I even danced with one of my fans dem. The fans have been very supportive, but there are small-minded people in the media who have their own agenda, but the fans love Lisa Hype, I know that now," she said. Before this morning's highly anticipated concert on "Good Morning America," Rihanna had a little offstage wardrobe mishap, leading to some lag time between her introduction by Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts, and her appearance. After singing three songs from her new album, "Rated R," which came out yesterday, the singer explained the lag to Roberts with more than a little self-deprecating humor: "I'm a little too fat right now, my dress… the zip busted in the back. They're like, 'A minute to live,' I'm like, 'Oh my god!' They wanted to stitch it up, but I couldn't."
Rihanna, who, it must be pointed out, looks as slim as always, also talked about the emotions she was feeling in the studio while making the album, alluding to the turmoil caused by her breakup with her abusive ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown: "It was the one place where I didn't feel judged or criticized; I just wanted to sit and make great music. Every emotion that I was going through at the time throughout making the record went into that album, and you can hear it in the songs."
Rihanna sang three songs on "GMA": "Wait Your Turn" and "Russian Roulette" from her new album, and the hit that made her a household name, "Umbrella."

Our condolences goes out to the family, friends and fans of Kevin "Squingy" Bennett from Bassy Odyssey who passed away yesterday morning.

Kevin “Squingy” Bennett was a legend, a product of natural, raw talent. It is
with much grief that we must inform the public that he is no longer among us.

At 6:40 am on Tuesday November 24, 2009, we were informed of his death
in a hospital in Tampa, Florida. It is reported that his lungs collapsed which
lead to the failure of his other organs.....
A little over five years ago, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Although there is no cure he had been receiving adequate treatment in both Jamaica and the United States. At this time we extend gratitude to those who have helped us to support and maintain Squingy’s life until now as that in itself is a miracle from the
Almighty.....
Kevin was a proud, strong, loyal and dedicated member of our family who bravely fought this obstacle to the final second and lived his life to the fullest in light of the surrounding circumstances.....
We appeal to the true Squingy friends and family, the loyal Bass Odyssey fans and supporters of the music that effort be made to preserve his important legacy and
contribution. Let us bury the man as a legend.....

Donovan "Don Corleone" Bennett and Alaine Laughton have been working together musically since 2005 and have been rumoured to be making more than music together.
Arite so they kinda admitted to it withouth really saying so much in an interview last year with Jamaica Observer. The last song that Alaine released (as far as I know) was an ode to her love for Don Corleone. Its's called "Without You." Well the two have ended their professional relationship and apparently the intimate one as well. It gets interesting.

Alicia Keys is teaming up with jewelry designer Gisèle Theriault to debut her own line of jewelry called The Barber’s Daughter. The line's name, The Barber's Daughter, was explained by Theriault to be from growing up in the small coastal town of Cape Breton in Canada, where “a name meant nothing. Whose child you were was everything.”

Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley explore the origins of the deeply-rooted, reggae and hip hop genre, tracing both sounds back to African Music. They will debate and celebrate the implications of this culture’s impact on the global community with a panel of pioneers — from DJ Kool Herc and DJ Red Alert to Jamaican dancehall legend, Daddy U-Roy, King Jammy, and moderator Sway Calloway of MTV. This event will also be streamed live and broadcast online at Natgeomusic.net.
This event will be followed by an after-party and open-mic show at Zanzibar, a Washington, D.C. nightclub, and will feature all event participants. Ticket price includes entry to the after-party.

Anya has so far had a very positive image in media. Rastafarian firebrand Anthony B will rub shoulders with international superstars Jay Z and Rihanna when he attends the 37th annual American Music Awards show on sunday November 22nd.

The 2009 American Music Awards will be held at the Nokia Theatre and broadcast live on ABC.
He opted to attend this event and promote his Rise Up album on the west coast instead of performing on the US leg of the One LoveTour.
.“I am looking forward to walking the red carpet and doing interviews about the Rise Up album. We ah go campaign it hard and meet and greet as many people as possible because the buzz on Rise Up is great so far, and when the nomination time comes for the album, I want them to be acquainted with what Anthony B represents,” he said.A
Anthony B will be working with well-known publicist Angel who hailsfrom California, and once worked with Michael Jackson in his heyday.Rise Up, which appears on theGreensleeves/VP Records imprint, isalready shortlisted for a Reggae Grammy nomination this year.“If this happens, it will be my very first Grammy nomination, and Ifeel the album deserves consideration because it has an authenticreggae feel, and the reggae world will respond to it,” he said.
Anthony B will be hosting his annual charity-based event in Trelawny on January 1. Further, he has five shows lined up for Central andSouth America in January.“

So it was less than a month ago that I went to Vybz Thursdays at The Building (formerly Asylum) in New Kingston. and the DJ's and artists alike are encouranging the crowd, men and women alike to be as vocal as they possibly could about thier distaste for oral sex. I didn't see Lisa Hype at that exact time, but I am sure she was proclaiming that she nah bow, she nah suck bud ray ray ray....well damn...she got found out ya'll. NOT that I care, I already know half these artists who talk about not dong oral just full of shit and they getting down behind closed doors; which is why when I see the crowd repeating and emulating their words with such conviction like I saw in the club, it just makes this situation even more pitiful.

First, I would like to say that there is no excuse for a picture
of that nature to be a part of the public domain. I admit that the
picture is real, but it captures a personal act done in the privacy of my
bedroom. I don't know how that got leaked to the media and condemn anyone who
would stoop to such a low.
However, I understand that I am a public person,
and when I say or do something, either articulated and thought out, it carries
weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility
for my actions. I would like to apologise specifically to all my female fans who
might be disappointed to see me in this light. However, Idon't apologise for the
act itself because it was done with a man that I truly and deeply love and
respect, and it was done in the privacy of my bedroom. I did it, so what?
I would also like to apologise to my family who are truly and deeply
hurt by the dissemination of the photo all over the Internet and the media. This
is not cool. And this is not funny. This is my life that some unscrupulous
person is attempting to destroy, but I am astrong young woman and I will
survive. Many young women, like myself,have been exploited and hurt in this way
and there comes a point in everyone's life when they have to stop allowing
people to hurt them. Iam begging young girls across Jamaica to use my life as an
example: we live in a male-dominated society but don't allow men to use and
abuse you. I have learned my lesson the hard way. The world is a tough
classroom, sometimes.
In closing, I want to say thank you to all my young
fans who have supported me in this, my darkest hour.

Friday the 13th may be associated with menacing superstitions, but it will be quite the contrary today for the contestants on Pulse's Full Figure Reality Series. The historic and highly-anticipated television event is set to premiere tonight at 9 p.m. on CVM TV. It is an unconventional date for a debut, but such is the nature of the Caribbean's first TV event dedicated exclusively to the full-figured woman.
In a high-energy contest of nerves, commitment and intuition, plus-size women will battle for top honours in the reality series. Each week, the ladies will be pitted against each other in several challenges and activities aimed at exposing them to the world of modelling and, in the process, determine who possesses the necessary qualities to be taken seriously as model contenders.
The pressure mounts each week as the full-figured girls face a review from the CMS panel, comprising Pulse CEO Kingsley Cooper, Pulse GM Romae Gordon and social scribe Chester Francis Jackson, as well as the dreaded elimination rounds which have now become a staple of reality television.
Expected to be a big hit
Pulse chairman and CEO Kingsley Cooper, believes that the show he conceived will be a big hit with fashion and beauty fans. "It will showcase the beauty and confidence of full-figured women, while empowering them through promoting and advocating positive body imagery and self-confidence," he said.
Following the success of the inaugural Full Figure Parade during its CMS event in September where Pulse named 24-year-old Tka Briscoe as its first winner, the company announced the Full Figure series as part its latest new TV titles. Hundreds of plus-size potentials answered the open call for contestants over several weeks and the judges began the arduous task of screening and selecting top girls to star in the series.
There is a huge potential for this emerging market in modelling. And, with the advent of specific brands and clothing labels being built around the plus-size woman, the need for talent to present these collections and advertise the brands have become more imminent, notes Pulse GM Romae Gordon.
