FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boardhouse Records - March 30, 2009

FROM ASSASSIN, IN HIS OWN WORDS:

On Saturday March 28, 2009, my performance at the Red Stripe Live concert was ended prematurely and abruptly, as I was stripped of my microphone and escorted off stage. I have spent many years of hard work and sacrifice building my reputation and brand as an artist, with a great level of integrity and professionalism. Indeed, the decision to include me in the line-up of this particular event is testament to that. I therefore have a responsibility to my fans and the general public to explain exactly what took place.

Upon being booked for the event, the songs I would be performing in my set were submitted in their entirety (without edits) weeks in advance, as requested by the organizers of the event. I rehearsed the songs in their entirety, on two separate occasions, in the presence of representatives from Red Stripe. There was no written or verbal communication from Red Stripe indicating any disapproval of the planned set, nor any discomfort with any specific lyrics or song. During my final rehearsal, I was merely asked to bear in mind the nature of the show, and upon arrival at the venue I was given a generic briefing by the promoters. At this point, there was still no indication from the promoters of any issue or objection to the planned performance.

During my performance, I did not deviate in any way from the rehearsed set. I was therefore shocked when approximately eight minutes into the ten minutes I was allotted, I was forced to discontinue. I was subsequently accused of breaching company policy by using what the promoter labeled offensive and discriminatory lyrical content, specifically, the use of the word "fish" in the song titled "Pree This."

The promoter then demanded that I apologize to the audience, a demand to which I did not comply. I am very disappointed by the unprofessional manner in which the matter was handled. I am even more concerned about the potential damage that may be done to my reputation that I have worked so hard to achieve and maintain.

My management has since been contacted by Red Stripe's Maxine Whittingham-Osbourne, who admitted it was miscommunication among Red Stripe representatives rather than any wrong doing on my part that resulted in this whole incident. She also stated that after reviewing the lyrics of the song, agreed I did not break any of Red Stripe's company codes. She apologized for failing to communicate with me prior to my performance that any lyrics were deemed questionable.

I still feel the need to take this opportunity to assure those who support my music that I am in no way at fault for Saturday night's unfortunate incident. I will continue to exercise discretion in my work, and I remain committed to the high level of integrity that has come to be expected of me.

The lyrics of the song at the center of the incident are as follows:

"Pree This"

Intro
Jamaica a wi island
Jamrock, what kind a rock?... Trust mi is a diamond
Mi nah run lef an go no where
Mi nah try off a Philippines, mi nah try off a Thailand
No, because Jamaica a mi island
Fi lef ya come in like mi tek sea ova dry land...

Verse One
Well Pree this

And pree this, dem gooda hear that an want say me dis

And tell mi whey yuh see say yuh fi a man yuh P?
Eh eh, no sah, Jamaica mi can't believe this

Alright then nuh say nutten, hold this is a G this
Yuh face still mek up?... alright a three this
Di country a mash up, how wi ago treat this?
If we unite mi know we can defeat this
Because a full time we bring back the sweetness
Until Jamaica give wi diabetes

Chorus
Because the economy poor and the crime rate high
but a Jamaica still a we yard
Mi nuh know bout you but mi sure bout me,

What mi say? Things not great but wi must hold the faith
Although times so hard, mi say

Verse Two
Well hear this

And everybody try find a better way fi steer this
Cause if we continue so, tourists goin fear this and

Well hear this...
Jamaica we can't move so we a live too careless
Nuff prayer a send up mek di Almighty spear this
Well Ja-Mek-Ya him a test wi, wi can't fail this
Him goodly take it back, so do nuh mek him send a bailiff

After sleeping off a mighty migraine, woke up at 4 a.m. and guess what I see on OMG... take a look-see:

Jamaican police say they have charged reggae singer Luciano with harboring a fugitive who shot and wounded three patrolmen while holed up inside the Grammy-nominated musician's home last week.

Police Superintendent McArthur Sutherland said the 44-year-old Rastafarian was charged Monday and released after posting bail.

Luciano, whose real name is Jepther McClymont, and his attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

A police statement said the hour-long standoff last week ended with the fugitive gunman, Andrew Senior, being killed at Luciano's home in Kingston. Two of the injured officers still are hospitalized. The other officer was released.

Luciano's 2001 release, "A New Day," earned a Grammy nomination for best reggae album.

I'm hearing reports that he was not present at the time of the shootout, but upon arrival at the scene was remanded by police. also hearing that there was a woman and her children in the building. Glad to know that they were not injured.

Jamaican reggae singer, Luciano, (born Jepther Washington McClymont) was on Wednesday questioned by police in reference to the shooting of three cops at his studio.

Andrew "Conqueror" Senior, a suspect in several killings and considered one of Jamaica’s most-wanted had eluded police for years. Police got a tip that he was hiding out in the quiet residential community of Westminster Crescent, at the home and studio of Luciano.Photo source

The gunman launched the attack just after 5:00 a.m. and it lasted for two hours.
During the stand-off one policeman was shot in his face he is the most seriously injured. The second was shot in his groin and the third in one of his legs.

According to police sources the singer could be charged for harboring a fugitive depending on the outcome of investigations.

It's not too long ago that Luciano was in another altercation. This time he was the victim of the violence. Read about it HERE.

Luciano is best known for Lord Give Me Strength and It’s Me Again, Jah. His 2001 album A New Day received a Grammy nomination for best reggae album.

Hip Hop Duo Sues Wyclef

Posted by Ayeola | 3/27/2009 08:32:00 PM

The Hip-Hop duo, Blazhay Blazhay, have accused fellow rapper Wyclef Jean of illegally using their memorable hit "Danger." in his 2007 song "Welcome to The East" feat Sizzla and Mavado. Blahzay Blahzay, comprised of DJ PF Cuttin’ and MC Out Loud, filed a copyright entitlement lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court. It also names Sony BMG Entertainment as a defendant.

The claim comes as Jean is expected to speak at the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Producers `I Create Music` Expo, from April 23 to 25 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

Danger (peep the Fila shoes at the start, lol that was back in the day!)

Welcome To The East

wow...I know sometimes people can have similar ideas and stuff but this is kinda close. Good luck to both parties. If these guys deserve a portion of the copyright they should have it. There's enough wealth to go around for everybody.

Riri Gets a gun!

Posted by Ayeola | 3/27/2009 08:29:00 PM

Rihanna has been house hunting by day and clubbing by night guess that's not enough to keep her mind off he personal problems...so what does she do??? She gets inked!

Now getting tattooed is nothing new to Rihanna and I myself love most of them, but it ends with this one.

She flew her personal tattooist BangBang to LA to do this ridiculousness on her ribcage.

At first BangBang drew two guns on her armsL he says on his MySpace page "I really wanted to put it here... she loved em.. .but, cover girl wouldn't have liked it much... and they pay the bills!

Ummm moron, that would have made sense if it was hidden. Cover Girl and the rest of the world can still see it all, considering you put not just the pic of the tatoo but the pic of Rihanna with the tattoo on your MySpace page.

I think homeboy wanted a piece of the publicity pie and he sure got it.

And Rihanna that's the dumbest move you've made yet. Some role model. Chuuppps!

Michael Misick has tendered his resignation as Premier of Turks and Caicos a week earlier than expected:

Here is the story on The Times (London)

The Prime Minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands has resigned as Britain prepares to take administrative control of the Caribbean territory.

Michael Misick, the Premier of the British dependency who has been at the centre of a corruption probe into the ruling elite, said in a statement he was resigning to give way to a unified government.

"I still think I have the majority of support in the public and in the country but suddenly the majority of elected members, who represent voters at this time, wanted me to step aside, therefore I think I have done the honourable thing," he the Caicos Free Press newspaper.

"At this time the country needs a unified government. I did not want to hold on to leadership at all costs," he added.

Mr Misick's resignation comes as the British Parliament considers legislation to suspend the constitution of the islands and hand power over to the British Governor, Gordon Wetherell.

Mr Wetherell announced plans to transfer authority into his hands last week, blaming “clear signs of political amorality and immaturity and general administrative incompetence” for the move.

The decision came after an investigation into the islands' administration by Sir Robin Auld, a former Lord Justice of Appeal, found a "high probability of systemic corruption or other serious dishonesty" among the ruling elite.

The inquiry was set up last year after a critical report by the commons Foreign Affairs Select Commisttee identified a "palpable climate of fear" on the islands.

The inquiry heard allegations of political corruption involving land sales, development deals and the granting of voting rights. It also heard details of the lavish lifestyle of Mr Misick and his estranged wife, the American actress LiseRaye McCoy-Misick, whose business dealings are at the heart of the investigation.

Mr Misick, 43, a British-trained lawyer who became the first Prime Minister of the Turks and Caicos in 2006, is accused with his fellow government ministers of selling off Crown land to property developers for personal gain.

The inquiry was also told that Mr Misick, who is also the Tourism Minister, arranged for his wife to be paid $300,000 (£203,000)from government funds to be the face of an international tourism campaign.

During the hearing on the island of Providenciales, it emerged that Mr Misick, who is also an estate agent, consultant to a firm of lawyers and director of a number of property companies, has received undeclared loans of $20 million from a number of financial institutions, foreign companies and members of the Government.

His wife regaled the hearing with details of the couple's opulent lifestyle. They flew by private jet for holidays in Africa and Europe and spent hundreds of thousands of pounds a month on clothes. She told the inquiry there was no limit on the couple's spending.

In his statement today, Mr Misick admitted he had "regrets and personal pain and agony" stemming from "mistaken judgement", but he attacked Britain's decision to strip the territory of its independence.

"No matter what my personal failings may have been, they do not support the pretext ... to suspend our constitution and take us back to a time we had thought long past," he said.

"This is tantamount to being re-colonised. It is a backwards step completely contrary to the whole movement of history."

Mr Misick repeatedly denied any wrong-doing during the hearing. However, Sir Robin could recommend criminal investigations in his final report, which is due in April. Mr Wetherell said the authorities were considering whether to bolster police resources and appoint a special prosecutor in anticipation of evidence that crimes were committed.

Well here's my two cents. Ya the guy is corrupt, tell me one country where there is no corruption in govt???? Such a crock...they just want an excuse to go back to colonialism so instead of a black man running the scene...England can stretch its arm across the ocean and have the power over likkle Turks and Caicos. You think the british govt not corrupt????Bet they are, they just way better at hiding it than the likkle black man that get a taste of power and doh know what to do with himself.

From the inception of this blog I'm sorry to say Estelle has made some serious fashion faux pas.
Remember this dress??? Not everything that looks good on the mannequin/runway gonna look good on the red carpet eh.

Anyways, back to the positive. Love the haircut. Braces not permanent, can let that slide. I'm not even gonna touch the purse or the contraption around her neck. As the saying goes: If you can't say something nice..........

As far as the clothing, so not in the A range a la Rihanna, but still not a Leona Lewis, I-love-wearing-grandma-sweaters-and-plain-dresses-and-not-too-banging-boot-grade D look.

Posted by Ayeola | 3/24/2009 02:30:00 AM

So, I have gone a week plus without mentioning Chrihanna. Boyah!!!! Don't mean I wasn't keeping up with them, I just got tired of writing this and writing that half of which I have no idea if it's true or not. BTW there is a new mystery texter in the news. So in all that reading I've been doing I notice that all sources have Rihanna was partying it up,oohooh she spent three hours in the club having a blast with her homegirls...ray-ray-rah-rah-rah-rah. I'm sorry but homegirl don't look too happy to me eh.

I don't know if is publicity stunt or what. You cannot cure the hurt inside of you by going to da club doo-doo (that's creole for Boo-boo...lol). When you get home and every one gone is you alone eh.
I hope whoever she considers her close friends and confidants keeping it real with her. The worse thing they could do is just go along for the ride and be yes man and yes woman.

Ok so she break a likkle smile. Not buying it.

One thing eh she not sleeping on the fashion eh. Still on point! Oh the hotness!

According to MTV UK, Akon will be one of the producer's on X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke's debut album in November.

Akon has already worked with Leona Lewis and told tabloid newspaper The Daily Star: "I've had calls to work with Alex and I'm going to do it. I love the X Factor and I love helping to break new artists."

When you put Akon and Caribbean in the same sentence, one might conjure up ideas of the little rag doll he was dragging on the stage (sorry that was not dancing) in Zen at a Trinidad performace.

But really though, I have to give him props for working with so many talented artists from the region. He has produced songs for Leona Lewis (a former X-factor winner herself) and worked with Rihanna, and Alicia Keys. He has signed to his Konvict label: Kardinall Offishall, Tami Chynn, Rock City (check out their track "Losin It"-Love it), and Brick andLace. Sean Kingston was recently featured in his latest video "Beautiful".

Reggae star Jah Cure is on the brink of releasing his highly anticipated album, The Universal Cure (SoBe/DangerZone), and is back with a new hit single that's heating up airwaves across the Caribbean, and beyond.

"Call On Me," a romantic duet recorded with SoBe labelmate, R&B/Pop singer Phyllisia, is already topping reggae playlists worldwide. Now the alluring single is bound to place Jah Cure at the very top of reggae charts, as he looks forward to the release of his new album come early April.

"I feel excited about this album, because this is the first album that I've made since I've been out of incarceration," states the soulful singer, whom many say is reminiscent of the great Bob Marley. "When all the other albums were released, I was in incarceration, so this is the first album that I made as a free man, and the first album launch I'll ever have in my life. So this album is more sentimental, and I'm out here to make it grow and make it connect to the fans more. It's a joy to be able to promote it to my fans and to the media, and to participate in platforms like Facebook and YouTube, and advertise it as a free man to the free world."

The video was commissioned by
SoBe Entertainment and DangerZone Music Group. It was shot over a two-day period in luscious Ocho Rios, Jamaica, with locations spanning the luxurious Royal Plantation resort and surrounding beaches. The video was directed by Rhona Fox and is slated for release in the upcoming week.

Here's a post on Christina Milian's MySpace blog, responding to all the rumors that she is engaged to Producer and labelmate, The Dream

Good Morning y'all.

Just woke up from finishing some work in the studio late last night to some eager phone calls as to whether or not I am Engaged.... No, I am not. Point blank, period. Pretty funny. I really don't have a lot to say about it... I think since I announced the title of my new album "Elope" these rumors seem to be looming around lately... It's an album title and a title track. And to me "Elope" represents taking control of my life and being an adult making my own responsible decisions. Despite anyone's judgement.... I have not run off and Eloped either, LOL. So....that being said.. Stay focused and to anyone who thinks my life is a Publicity stunt... GROW UP. Life is short, enjoy it and stop picking on what I do. Cause if you don't know, I am definitely enjoying life!

Serani is definitely the man ofthe hour as a headliner of the Metro PCS/Hot 97 5 Boro Takeover Tour

On March 20th, he will be at Amazura in Queens with Buju Banton and Elephant Man. Though I lived in Texas which has no Metro PCS (that I am aware of,) as Dominicans would say,it was making ding dang in Florida. Of course there is a significant Caribbean population in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. I am sure that that is the basis for using these West Indian / Urban artists for their New York launch.

The Metro PCS Tour stops at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, on March 25th, where Serani will be joined by Alliance colleague Mavado, as well as Akon, Busta Rhymes and Estelle.
