Atlanta Carnival is around the corner. Allu ready?????

A newly redesigned and upgraded Krazy Koconuts (formerly Green Grasshopper) was officially launched on May2nd 2009 in Castle Comfort Dominica with Jamaican Reggae artist Da'Ville as the headline act!

After the opening act KrossVybez, I looked down and saw a sea of black as the ladies rushed to the stage. Da'Ville was here! He sang all his hits and for most the crowd sang word for word: "In Heaven," "Can't Get Over You," "Yesterday," "All My Life," "Lovers and Friends," and "This Time I Promise." Da'Ville even dropped some soca with "Turning Me On" and his version of Machel's "One More Time." Other favorites included "Never Gonna Cry," (the crowd still learning that one eh, butIwas singing at the top of my lungs), "Do You Know," "Missing You Right NOw," and "Always On My Mind."

Of course he appealed to our Dominican pride, complementing the beauty of the ladies, promising his return to the island. He of course had a few ladies on stage to check out the Dominican "real estate" and led the crowd in singing "Always On My mind."

After his performance came former calypso king and current Soca Monarch of Dominica Daddy Chess.

MFR band rounded off the show, with a sickout performace-as usual!

Big up to the Barbados delegation at Midem at Palais de Festivales, Cannes.

The delegation which was led by Invest Barbados' Manager, and Senior Business Development Advisor, Jannette Babb, and Modou Diagne, respectively included Chief Executive Officer of COSCAP, Erica Smith; Managing Director of CRS Music and Media, Derek Wilkie; Attorney-at-Law representing alternative music band Kite, Nick Nanton; Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Director of Pyramid Entertainment Management Inc, Santia Bradshaw and Ruel Ward, respectively; Chief Executive Officer of Got Rhythm Inc, Glenn White; Chief Executive Officer of Good Vybz Inc., Kirk Browne; and Chief Executive Officer of Hit Island Music, Kristen Broome. Courtney Phillips of E-Vision Concepts assisted Invest Barbados in the co-ordination of the event.

Here are some pics of your favorites and soon-to-be favorites out and about last weekend. Thursday several High Schools took part in a lip synching competition at the Arawak House of Culture in Dominica (more pics to come) where Dwane Husbands was a guest. Peep the pics of him, as well as Mr. Benji of Triple Kay band and Daddy Chess of the Swinging Stars Band.

Friday saw Rihanna at Z100's Jingle Ball in NYC performing with her BooBoo C-Breezy (who is Billboard's #1 artist of the year, RiRi is #5).

Saturday they were in Miami Intl Airport. While Mel B was at the Grove shopping with the fam. I went to OlBenz album release party at Harlem Plaza (nuff local artist doing their thing). And Bounty Killa, Jr. Reid and Mavado were at the Stone Love Party in Jamaica.

Leona Lewis was at Jingle Ball too and on Monday she was at David Letterman promoting Spirit. Happy Watching!!!!

On October 4th AMP held a workshop at the Fort Young Hotel to brief musicias, entertainers, lawyers, the police force and anyone who had an interest in the industry about copyright and the structure of the music industry. The guest speaker was Lloyd Stanbury, an entertainment lawyer from Jamaica who can count people like Cecile as clients, he helped to create the Reggae Academy organizers of the Reggae Awards.




The info given by him and Mark Marie of AMP was extremely informative. Artists at the event included, King Dice, Hunter, Daddy Chess, De Bobb, Cornell Phillip, Ophelia Marie (Dominica's Lady of Song and wife of Mark Marie), Maxine Alleyne, Triple Kay band. Promoters like Maggz, and More Sewo guys were there too, Pat Aron incredible writer to many a calypsonian was also present, and the police and media were in attendance too.
