Singer Tami Chynn has logged her first entry on any Billboard singles chart. "Frozen", her duet with hip hop star Akon has jumped from number 16 to number 11 on Billboard-s Dance Music Club Play listing. The track is also burning up dance radio, as it hops to number 20 on Billboard-s Dance Music Airplay tally.

She is signed to Akon's Kon-Live Label which is distributed by Universal Music's Geffen. Guess its a fruitful relationship seeing as she just scored a Pepsi commercial , which also features Akon's vocals. She will be going on tour with New Kids On The Blockm and Natasha Bedingfield.

Look out for her new album Prima Dona set for release in early 2009

Riri breaks yet another record

Posted by Ayeola | 10/13/2008 07:04:00 PM

“Live Your Life” is the fifth No. 1 for Rihanna, moving her up on the list of the solo female artists with the most No. 1s on the Hot 100:

Mariah Carey (18)
Madonna (12)
Whitney Houston (11)
Janet Jackson (10)
Diana Ross (6)
Paula Abdul (6)
Barbra Streisand (5)
Olivia Newton-John (5)
Rihanna (5)

Here is a shot of her performing the song at T.I's MySpace Album Release Party at Key Club in Hollywood, CA.

Rihanna’s previous four chart toppers were “Disturbia”, “Take A Bow”, “Umbrella” and “SOS”.
While T.I. owns the two biggest leaps to No. 1, Rihanna has four of the top nine biggest jumps to pole position:

80-1: “Live Your Life,” T.I. featuring Rihanna (Oct. 18, 2008)
53-1: “Take a Bow,” Rihanna (May 24, 2008)
41-1: “Umbrella,” Rihanna featuring Jay-Z (June 9, 2007)
34-1: “SOS,” Rihanna (May 13, 2006)

Congratulations Rihanna, on this astounding achievement!

Source: Billboard.com

BTW she is currently working on her 4th, yet to be titled album.

Seems she wants to go more into the punk rock realm so it will be more "Disturbia" and less "Take a Bow"…I just hope she maintains and keeps a couple reggae tracks like she usually does

Formula one racer Lewis Hamilton is soon to be investing in the land of his father, Grenada. Well considering that he’s out 35 million for purchasing the Grenada Grand Beach Resort, I guess the investing has commenced. The government also gave him the land under the building worth an estimated 15 million dollars. In exchange for using his image and name for the next four years to promote tourisim.

Love Althea

Posted by Ayeola | 10/13/2008 07:00:00 PM

I am really feeling Althea Hewits new video. She recently launched her album at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel . A former member of the group, Fourth Street Sister, she is now a solo act under the VP Records Label. This 15 track album is the first of three she will create under her deal with them.

Also launching his album (his fifth) at the same venue was Tony Green with his Midnight Blues.

Best Of Shaggy:The Boombastic Collection came out on the Hip-O records label (it’s part of Universal Music Group). On the record you will find the tunes that made him not only a household name, but the most successful commercial crossover reggae artist to dat. Boombastic in 1995 earned him a Grammy for Best Reggae Album, with it he also became the first artist to top the Billboard 200 album chart. He had a diamond album with Hotshot in 2000. Currently he is promoting his most recent album Intoxication.

So Beenie Man had to perform at a government-sponsored event honoring the Jamaican athletes who represented at Bejing. My boy Moses, not only was late, he got there when the show was over. I wish I could have been a fly inside is car...was he tripping? did he really give a damn? was he hustling the driver to put his foot on it????I mean what???????? of course his publicist, Ray Alexander, had to do damage control stating that the artiste "unreservedly apologizes to the Ministry of Culture, the Olympians and all his fans for his late arrival at the official function to honor athletes at the Trelawny "These meetings took longer than anticipated and resulted in the artiste leaving Kingston way past the scheduled 3:00 pm departure time."

Ooh and on top of that there were some showers and ting, ray ray ray, rah rah rah....Like Eddi Murphy's Mom told the King in Coming to America: "Put a sock in it" Beenie....

this is not a first. How many times has he missed a court date (oh by the way that tax case was trhown out, allu know how I feel about that one read this ) and he's missed performances too...

So here's another quote for you Beenie as said by MFR Band out of Dominica "I see you moving your mouth but you ain't saying nuttin....blah-blah-blah-blahblahblahblah.

For the first time ever in its five year history Jamaica has a Digicel Rising Stars female champion.

Cameal Davies from the Kingston 14 community of Denham Town beat out the final man standing (men really since it’s a five member group) Kahlil. She beat them in all three performances on Sunday September 28th.

Judge Nadine Sutherland told her that she did not win because she is a woman but because she is the best.

Not only great on the stage, her accomplishments include being appointed head girl, student of the year and valedictorian of her graduating class in 2003. That same year, she received a scholarship to attend a summer programme at Kettering University in Michigan. She now goes on to represent Jamaica at the Regional leg of the competition in Barbados.

The Live Television shows will take place at St Gabrielles school in st Michael and starts at 6pm every Saturday with the grand finale on November 15th. Grand prize is $10,000.00 cash USD, a recording contract and a Sony Ericsson phone.
