CALYPSO KING

Karessah has retained his calypso monarch title.

Daryl ‘The Bobb’ Bobb got first-runner-up, Tasha ‘Tasha P’ Peltier got second runner-up and Dave ‘Soul Puss’ Pascal got third runner-up.

ROAD MARCH KING
Calypsonian Murphy “Sye” Jno Jules of Salisbury has won the Road March King title with his controversial ‘Dr. Finger.'

CARNIVAL QUEEN

Marcia Baptiste from the city of Portsmouth is Dominica’s 2010 Carnival Queen.

She also won the titles of Miss Photogenic , Best Performing Talent, and Best in Evening Wear.

Dana Augustine came in as the first runner up while second runner-up went to Kristelle Fagan.

Best in Costume and Best Costume went to Amy Polydore. Dana Augustine took the award for Best Swimwear, Best Evening Wear went to Clarissa Nicholls, and Kristelle Fagan got the award for the Best Response To Question.

From all accounts it was a fairly-judged show

TEENAGE PAGEANT
Fifteen-year-old Colette Ambo brought the crown back to the Convent High School (CHS) when she won the 2010 National Teenage Pageant on Sunday night at the Pottersville Savannah.

This is the CHS’s second consecutive win. Last year’s winner was Kelcia Righton.

A newly redesigned and upgraded Krazy Koconuts (formerly Green Grasshopper) was officially launched on May2nd 2009 in Castle Comfort Dominica with Jamaican Reggae artist Da'Ville as the headline act!

After the opening act KrossVybez, I looked down and saw a sea of black as the ladies rushed to the stage. Da'Ville was here! He sang all his hits and for most the crowd sang word for word: "In Heaven," "Can't Get Over You," "Yesterday," "All My Life," "Lovers and Friends," and "This Time I Promise." Da'Ville even dropped some soca with "Turning Me On" and his version of Machel's "One More Time." Other favorites included "Never Gonna Cry," (the crowd still learning that one eh, butIwas singing at the top of my lungs), "Do You Know," "Missing You Right NOw," and "Always On My Mind."

Of course he appealed to our Dominican pride, complementing the beauty of the ladies, promising his return to the island. He of course had a few ladies on stage to check out the Dominican "real estate" and led the crowd in singing "Always On My mind."

After his performance came former calypso king and current Soca Monarch of Dominica Daddy Chess.

MFR band rounded off the show, with a sickout performace-as usual!

Just heard from a friend that former Calypso King of Dominica Dennison "King Dice" Joseph has been arrested.
Allegedly, over an altercation at the market this morning involving an officer of the law. His house was searched, drugs were discovered. He along with others were placed into custody.

Wow. I had seen Dennison at the last lap at Crazy Coconuts TripleKay/MFRJam. He was hanging with fellow Klockerz members S.K.I.NN.Yaka Shadowflow, and Sky Dimex. They were having a time. I was at the market too, but left before this 'incident' occured.

I hope that police followed proper procedure in their actions, and I hope that in due time we can find out the truenature of the incident on both sides. I know many consider Dice a bad role model and already tongues were wagging since he decided not to defend his crown.

I was not there so as far as I am concerned, he is innocent until proven guilty.

UPDATE: I was told he was charged with Obstruction of Justice. He intervened in a dispute between a policeman and a young man. That sounds like the Dice I know. He does get a bad rap because he is so opinionated, but he abhors injustice, and so do I. So I guess this should be on local news tomorrow which as far as I am told is when he will go to court.

So Mr. Slaughter (formerly known as Dawg-E-Slaughter) came to Dominica in Christmas for Bouyon Slam and look rain. It just rained and rained all night. And the next evening weather nice. Sweet breeze flowing, temperature just right. That's Dominica for you. Anyways the show got cancelled. He did show up on the Canefield playing field the day after Bouyon Slam was to take place and did a likkle ting. MFR and Triple Kay were jamming that day. And here is a pic of me and Mr. Slaughter after his performance.


He's coming back Dominica. Friday Jan. 30th is the big day. So make sure you are there at the Crazy Banana (formely Green Grasshopper)

Creole in the Park is an annual event organized by major sponsor Cable and Wireless. This year saw the 6th installment of the event which promoted local musicians, as well as local cuisine.
