Froom Yahoo News: The company founded by the New York businessman known in the hip-hop world as "Jacob the Jeweler" has sued Wyclef Jean, claiming he owes money for watches and jewelry he bought.

Jacob and Company Incorporated says in Manhattan court papers filed Tuesday that the hip-hop star bought several items between March 2002 and January 2006 for $765,100. The company says Jean still owes $319,680, despite "repeated demands for payment."
Several representatives for Jean didn't immediately respond to e-mails requesting comment.
The company's founder, Jacob Arabov, was sentenced in June to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for lying to investigators of a multistate drug ring.
Arabov was known as the "king of bling" to customers who included Madonna, Elton John and Kanye West

Now she is featured in the current issue of Marie Claie Magazine in a 14 page fashion editorial , on location amid the majestic mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, as well as in editorials for new fashion publications Indicate and Flux.

Sandals Royal Bahamian resort recenly won Green Globe 21 Award for Environmental Stewardship. In continuing their goal of preserving their surrounding evnvironment, the hotel is offering a $500.00 prize to a local artist in a unique recycling project. Artists will use cans in their project and the best and most innovative idea will be commissioned.

Artists should send a short written description of their idea to mnichols@grp.sandals.com no later than Friday August 15, 2008 with the winner notified by telephone on Tuesday August 19, 2008 and the winning artist given up to a month to create their masterpiece. The resort plans to unveil the artwork during September before dismantling and recycling the cans.

According to a Caribbean Net News article, producers are not exactly jumping at the chance to fund Danny Glover's epic on thelife of Toussaint L'Ouverture (1743-1803) the father of Hatian Independence. Why??? A Lack of white heros. OK Its a movie about a BLACK MAN....in a BLACK COLONY....fighting the WHITE PEOPLE WHO ENSLAVED him and his fellow BLACK MEN....sooooo....to put white heroes there would pretty much change the whole movie...I'm not saying there wasn't a Quaker or two that helped somehow but dang....how you gonna re-write history?????

So guess what???? His amigo, Hugo Chavez is funding the movie (You know he's all about revolution right) through some cultural organization or the other. Bajan soca star Alison Hinds seems to be having some problems with the amount of money being paid to international acts who perform during Crop Over.
And, she is asking why Bajan artistes are not treated in the same manner.
Hinds is having particular problem with the National Cultural Foundation's (NCF) Cohobblopot show.
Although Hinds refused to divulge exact numbers, she said the amount she was offered by the NCF to perform at Cohobblopot was nowhere near the rumored 30-thousand US being paid to Trinidadian soca star Machel Montano.
This was despite the fact that Hinds, like Montano, is an internationally recognized performer.
Hinds stressed that she had no problem with Montano or other foreign acts, citing the fact that she herself performed her music in foreign locations, and was also a personal fan of Montano's.
Hinds revealed that the NCF had also specified that she would not be able to perform with her own band, and would have to perform a very limited number of her songs at the Cohobblopot show.
Hinds said Bajan artistes were not being treated fairly.
Instead of performing at Cohobblopot, Hinds will be on stage at Euphoria, where she said there were no restrictions on any artistes specifying that they could only perform at that show.

Throughout his three decades in music, Child's list of accolades includes Grammy awards, 70 Top 40 singles, and songs that have sold over 300 million albums worldwide. Child's career has been highlighted by a stunning array of diversity. His collaborations include Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Ricky Martin, KISS, Kelly Clarkson, Cher and Alice Cooper.

Kes was one of 25 writers (considered to be the best in the biz) present at this camp. They included:- GARY BURR ( credits include Kelly Clarkston, Clay Aiken, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Christina Aguilera, Tim McGraw)- BILLY FALCON (Credits include Bon Jovi, Cher, Stevie Nicks)- DARRELL BROWN (credits include Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes)

The goal of the camp was to write songs for Ace Young's up-coming self-titled album. On the last day Kes and Darrell Brown were seected by Child to be his writing partners. The end result, after almost 11 hours of writing, was the ballad "How You Gonna Spend Your Life" which made it to Ace's album released July 15th 2008

Ace Young who recently won a Grammy for co-writing Daughtry's "It's Not Over" first entered the music scene on the wider scale on the fifth season of American Idol. He is also an actor appearing in the TV drama Bones.

Olympic Gold Medalist and former Boxing Heavyweight Champion George Foreman has joined the reality club with his show Family Foreman. It aired on June 16th on TV Land. George has 10 children:five boys (all named George Edward Formean) and five girls. The show chronicles theday to day life of George, his five children with his wife Mary Joan nee Martelly: Natalie, Leola, George IV "Big Wheel", GeorgeV "Red", George VI "Joe" and his son George III "Monk: from a previous marriage. Joan (that's what he calls her) and George were married on March 27th 1985 and they live in the Houston area.

According to organizers of the Village Rock Festival in the tiny Serbian hamlet of Banatski Sokolac, a statue of late great Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley was unveiled there on July 23rd

According to their website (which I still have yet to locate) it is the first European monument of the Jamaican born artist. Two other Serbian villages have erected staues of non-Serbian artists. They are of Johnny Weissmuller, the late actor famed for his role as "Tarzan", and Sylvester Stallone's famous film character "Rocky Balboa".

This year's is the 3rd installment of this festival. The opening act is will be opened by Del Arno Band, and also features Jamaican act Ras Abraham & the Irie Vibes.
