St. Lucia and St. Kitts tie for title of Miss Talented Teen 2010
According to SKNVibes.com : FOR the first time in its 30-year existence, judges of the Annual Digicel Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant were stumped, as two contestants tied for first place and both had to be crowned queen.
The historic event took place last evening (Dec. 30) at Carnival Village, where St. Kitts’ Berriscia Byron and Consuelo Dupal of St. Lucia both scored 731.5 points to lay claim to the coveted title.
However, a decision was made for both teenagers to be crowned queens; a decision that did not go down well for most members of the seemingly bewildered packed audience who voiced their disapproval, noting that there should have been a system in place tie-breakers.
While Miss St. Kitts was awarded Best Dress, Miss St. Lucia won the awards for Best Talent and Best Production. However, although the decision was already made for the winner of the Best Talent segment, the audience was given the opportunity of voting by text for the contestant they thought was the best, and Miss St. Kitts won 63 percent of the votes.
The Second Runner-up position went Ackelia Cornwall of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who amassed a total of 704.5 points; while Miss St. Thomas, USVI, Caprisha Richards, copped the Third Runner-up spot with 701.5 points.
Miss Grenada, Deirdre Greenidge, was named Miss Photogenic and she also won the Best Interview award, while Barbados’ representative Ashlee Simpson carted off the award for Best Ambassadorial Wear. The other contestants were Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Bahamas, Miss Anguilla and Miss St. Croix.
However, despite being advertised weeks before the Pageant, the BVI and Guyana were not represented for reasons not known by this media house. Many patrons claimed that although Berrisca Byron might not have been outstanding in all of the judged segments, she was very consistent in every one.
A notable public figure in St. Kitts, on the condition of anonymity, said, “In any competition, the judges’ decision is final, but I am appalled at the outcome of this Pageant.
This competition is in its 30th year and the organisers should have a clause in their rules for tied positions. What should have been done, is that the two first place contestants should have been made to reappear on stage and asked a particular question and the one with the better answer be crowned queen. However, in the employment of this tie-breaker, the second contestant should be placed in an area where she cannot hear the question or the answer given by her counterpart.”

Spice Disses Lisa Hyper---ya she lyrically slaughtered her, straight up!!!
OOOO Lisa Hype you picked the wrong itch to fuck wid. Spice totally killed her- lyrically speaking of course. Spice released a statement in response to Lisa Hype's "Sting Aftermath" diss song on which she along with other female Dancehall artists are mentioned,
Spice says:
"Lisa Hype, I mean Lisa Swipe is in no position to utter the words she did from her mouth, but I honestly feel very sorry for her. She's going through a shameful time in her life right now and is obviously lookingfor a dark hole to stick her head in. Lisa Swipe is calling names to keep her name out there; but my name? She ah play wid fire. She know say she nuh bad like mi likkle fingah. Di time she tek ah pick pon difemale artiste dem, she need fi go clean off di discharge offah harstomach. She ah gwaan like ah me tek har pictuh an sen' it out. And it's such a pity. Outta every female artiste name whe she call, she ahdi crawniest one. She feavah Geico lizard. I've been in the business for 10 years and I've never stooped so low, just to get highlighted. But Lisa doesn't know when to stop stooping and get up off her knees. It's tragic. Let me not bother to go there because she is not in my world. Lisa, as a woman-to-woman, I have never been as humiliated asyou are in my life, so I have no idea what you are going through. I canonly imagine. So I wish you a speedy recovery,"
Speaking of her non-performance at Sting, she adds:
"Nuffy sabotaged my thing. After Pamputae performed, he knew it should have been me, but he called up General B instead. When did he expect meto perform after that? During the clash with him and KipRich. It was unprofessional and it was done purposely because before that he was following the lineup and list. I just want to apologise to my fans fornot performing. I didn't get the chance to and I had a real end of year performance in store."
Yow this chune is bad!
According to one876 entertainment Lisa Hyper just laughed in response:
"Spice can stay de gwaan talk, tell her say mi have her file."
Well Lisa Hype have to come real good to beat that and she have to have a hefty file cabinet!!!!
Come on ladies, let's play nice in the new year...So since I have arrived in Jamaica, I have been religiously listening to ZIP FM (except of Fridays when I listen to Arif Cooper on FAME FM every Friday from 5-6 when he plays soca) and one of my top rated DJs is ZJ Liquid (love you ZJ Rush, ZJ Sparks, and ZJ Fat Cat you Cats House sessions go hard too) Now every day he is on air from 2-6 and Wednesdays are especially a favorite for me as Liquid introduces audiences to all the new hit tunes.
Well here is a new one for ya!
It's called Cyaan Friend Again and it's by Stephen Di Genius McGregor, who sings on and produced the song. It's a diss to Vybz Kartel. Why??? Well apparently Kartel wanted the Outbreak Riddim for Gaza and obviously that did not happen as Busy Signal, Mavado, Assassin, Laden and Bramma are on it. So then Kartel diss him on the Israel Riddim with his tune "Rifle Shot" which is a diss to both Mavado's song "War Is In Di Air" (pre-peace concert of course) and Big Ship too. So now Stephen come with "Cyaan Friend Me" in reponse to Kartel.
Uugh can we just make good music already????? No wonder Mr. Vegas was venting over the state of the Jamaican music industry on his Twitter page @MrVegasMusic. But that is a whole other post....

Lisa Hyper says she still got love for Portmore Empire. Disses females in the game

“I’ve just been released from my contract with the Portmore Empire but even though I am no longer the first lady of the Gaza, mi still ah say Gaza. Death before dishonour. Mi nuh haffi be a part of the Empire fi still say Gaza. Gaza means fight for what you believe in and never give up…never say die. In every setback, there is an opportunity fi grow and right now, mi not going to stop, ah persistence mi say…all mi name change, my new name is Lisa HYPER. As a solo artist, mi can explore new directions, new challenges, and new freedoms, mi ah go mek it. I want to thank everyone at Portmore Empire for the love and support they’ve shown me and to the Teacha especially who enlightened me to nuff tings inna the world. Mi love everybody same way, nothing no change, memba say mi ah the first lady fi put Gaza pon mi knuckles and Empire pon mi neck . Mi wish everybody the best. Gaza fi life. Gaza till death.”
Guess she just trying to go out with her head up. But her diss of several artists in the idustry just totally countered that. It's a lame song. Not lyrically captivating. Whoever is advising her need to come again. There are people on your side Lisa, focus on you and don't try to bring any body else down just because people did it to you. If you want to bother to listen to the song called "Sting Aftermath" check it out below:

Concert organizers say Rihanna does not have to tone down for Dubai
A British tabloid report claiming that Rihanna will have to tone down her raunchy performances for her New Year’s Eve concert in Abu Dhabi is “totally inaccurate” according to organisers Flash.
The Daily Mirror reported on Sunday that the Barbadan singer had been told to dress more conservatively for her concert in the UAE and that the star was now “tearing her hair out over what to do”.
It also reported that Rihanna is being paid $500,000 (Dh1.85 million) for the concert.
In a statement, organisers Flash rubbished the claims, saying ‘‘the facts and figures recently reported around Rihanna’s Abu Dhabi concert are totally inaccurate. Rihanna is bringing an incredible new stage show to the capital and there’s no doubt the event will be fantastic; an ideal way to celebrate the beginning of a new decade.”
Abu Dhabi has recently hosted concerts from international artists including The Killers, Aerosmith and Beyonce, all of whom performed their concerts without restrictions.

Former Portmore Empire First Lady Lisa Hype has been expelled from the Portmore Empire by Empire CEO Adidja 'Di Teacha' Palmer after what a release called her 'overall conduct' which was "not consistent' with what is expected of members of the group.
Lisa Hype is no longer a part of the Portmore Empire. The members of the Empire
have unanimously agreed to end our professional relationship especially in light
of certain ‘developments’ that have come to our attention regarding her overall
conduct, conduct that is not consistent with the decorum expected of a member of
the Portmore Empire. She is an incredible artist and we wish for her all the
best in her future endeavors, but Lisa Hype will not play a future role in the
Empire as she no longer fits in with our organizational goals as we move forward
in 2010.–Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer–
Ok.let me go an get my enamel pan for me to empty the contents of my stomach. Oh wait but first I have to light my kerosene lamp, and I was so tired from washing in de river (sigh). Why I didn’t hear dat at high noon nuh when I was by de standpipe collecting water. Did I go back in time???? I must be hallucinating, have to be. This cannot be 2009, almost 2010.
That statement, that amalgamation of words which yet to form a complete thought (cause that is what a sentence supposed to do) just makes NO SENSE to me…..Empire CEO???? Empire finger pointer more like. How about turning that finger on yourself nuh? How about that CEO? I so vex for this gurl eh. Shayt. So she messed up. Even Nike sticking it out with Tiger.
So I had to read and reread the statement, you know, so it could make some kind of sense to me, right. The release says her “overall conduct” was “not consistent” with what is expected of the group members. Group members who oversaw and directed her career up to this point.
So let’s see admitting that yes you had oral sex (which I mean what else could she do the picture is all up and down the Internet)and being unapologetic about it, is not consistent with the group goals? Who plans on being caught like that? Maybe her’s was not the most PC move, but I felt she was being strong. You know why? Cause she was HONEST. She was an adult, doing adult things and she was obviously betrayed by someone she trusted. I commend her for claiming her part in what is an obviously embarrassing moment in her career.
I mean let’s forget that Vybz Kartel the CEO is banned from performing in several islands, lets forget that his lyrics are raunchy and sexually explicit not to mention violent, ooh oooh lets even close our eyes and pretend that we don’t see school children all over the region carrying out violent acts described in his songs, let’s find a similar situation where a member of the empire got bad press and see what was the outcome.
How about when it was rumored that Jeffery Hype had Kartel's name on his neck (he has his face on his arm). In the homophobic Jamaican society, that was a big scandal and was he banned?austracized? no. You know why? Cause he has a penis. That’s the beginning and end of it.
I’m sorry Lisa you missing a very important appendage and having it in your mouth doesn’t count ( ok thatwas a little harsh). Anyways my girl Lisa what can I say, maybe they kicking you to a brighter future.
So let them have their Vybz Rum and party at Asylum every Thursday, make more explicit songs, glamourizing their sexual exploits, glorifying their underdog status and
2010 is just a couple days away so I am waiting with baited breath for the unfolding of the goals of the Portmore Empire. Damn, guess I can forget an interview now huh?
Nhojj makes history as first black male winner of OUT Outstanding R&B Soul Song of the Year!!!
New York based, Guyanese Indie aritist Nhojj made OUTMusic Awards history when his ballad “Love” was voted 2009 Outstanding R&B/Soul Song of the Year by The Alliance of LGBT Recording Artists & Performers. Why? Because this is the first time an African American male has won an OMA.
Read about it in this Billboard Article:
Indie recording artist Nhojj made OUTMusic Awards history when his ballad “Love” was voted 2009 Outstanding R&B/Soul Song of the Year by The Alliance of LGBT Recording Artists & Performers. This marks the first time an African American male has won an OMA. The Logo sponsored event was held December 8, 2009, at the legendary Webster Hall in New York City. It is the biggest night in LGBT entertainment, and the only gala ceremony of its kind in the world.Read the rest of the Billboard Article HERE!
Nhojj is also the first artist to win the OUTStanding R&B/Soul song of the year. OUTMusic added this and other categories to the ceremony this year to more fully reflect the music of the LGBT community. After his win, the singer/songwriter took the stage performing “Love” before an audience including OMA Lifetime Achievement recipient Kevin Aviance, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto, LOGO personalities DeMarco Majors and Julie Goldman among many other notables in the LGBT community. The ceremony was hosted by Noah’s Arc star Rodney Chester and GLAAD Media Award winner Kate Clinton.“Love” features keyboardist Carl Evans (Stevie Wonder, Barry White); David Stark on Guitar (Rick James & Teena Marie); Tommy Aros on percussion (Luis Miguel); and is mastered by by Robert Honablue, whose Gold and Platinum credits include Santana, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, and Miles Davis.
Director Kirk Shannon-Butts featured "Love" in his highly acclaimed Indie film "Blueprint,” which screened at 2008 Cannes International Film Festival, and also directed the music video “Love.” Unlike many current R&B music videos, it is the sensitive reflection of two male college students who feel a mutual attraction toward each other. "I believe love is for everyone... homosexual and heterosexual" Nhojj says, "One day soon our world will acknowledge this simple truth."
Congrats to Nhojj on this historical achievement. His music is truly all-embracing and quite soothing to the soul! Here take a look and listen.

Machal Montano Third World, Erykah Badu, Kelly Price, Tamia, Deborah Cox, Jon Secada, Gladys Knight etc etc… How could I say no. See you there!
I’m reading online about Rihanna tearing her hair up because she has to dress conservatively for her New Year’s Eve concert in Dubai. This girl is a professional ( I hope). If I was her, stick a burka on me and put a mike in my hand, ok! I mean covering up for a couple of hours and to get paid half a million dollars is something to get mad about???? Nah man I hope she is better than that.
She had that issue in Malaysia before and I would hate to think that her staff did not have a clue about the potential for some type of censorship in an Islamic state. So sorry,I am not jumping posting bullshit band wagon just cause someone said so. Rihanna can’t be THAT dumb. Peace!
Vbyz Kartel being sued by Angry Lucian and Guyanese promoters
From Jamaica Observer:
Irate show promoters in St Lucia and Guyana are planning to sue dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel for a series of no-shows over the weekend. Kartel and members of his Portmore Empire were reportedly booked for a concert in Guyana on Saturday night, after which they should have moved on to St Lucia to perform on the last evening of a three-day event called Love Fest.
Reports are, however, that while some members of the Empire turned up, Kartel missed his flight to Guyana, not once, but twice, after which the promoter was asked to send a charter. According to one report, this was done, but the plane sat on the tarmac on Saturday and the deejay refused to leave Jamaica. Conscious Minds Promotions in Guyana reportedly suffered tremendous losses when they were forced to cancel the show. The Sunday Stabroek in Guyana noted that "a press release advised that persons who purchased tickets for the show will receive full refunds beginning Tuesday at all ticketing locations".
The promoters are quoted as saying, "We again express our deep regret at the disappointment that our supporters must feel and pledge that we will make good with other promotions."
Meanwhile, the St Lucia promoter Andrew Hayles, in an interview last evening with the Observer, said that he had spent over US$20,000.00 on plane fare just to ensure that Kartel would be present for his show, Love Fest, which has built up a solid reputation during its eight years.
"Naturally, the Guyana promoter and myself have been communicating, since I was supposed to bring Kartel in from there. So those tickets went down the drain. Then I made direct contact with Kartel and he told me to send two first-class tickets for him and Jahvinci to travel from Jamaica. At 11:00 pm on Saturday we got the travel agent to open up her business place so we could purchase the tickets. Then plans changed and we were asked to get a charter and this was done. Then the next thing we know we hear on Sunday that Kartel had posted a statement on YouTube saying that he was not attending Love Fest in St Lucia and it was not the promoter's fault," Hayle said, still sounding bemused at all that had transpired.
A quick look at YouTube shows a 33-second clip with Vybz Kartel who identifies himself and then goes on to say "we a mek the people dem know from now that we won't be attending Love Fest in St Lucia ... but it's no fault of the promoters or the promotion which is Hot FM ... it's just circumstances beyond our control."
Hayles said he was aware that there were some "security issues and threats" and he had assured the deejay that he would have been closely guarded throughout his visit to the island.
"And then he doesn't even get in contact with us ... somebody told us that there was a statement on YouTube and that's how we knew that he was not going to take the charter. Well, we promoters have aligned ourselves, we have spread the word, we have even contacted BBC 1Xtra. And we are going to sue Kartel for our money. He charged us US$25,000.00 and he was paid his 50% deposit. We have to deal with Kartel," Hayles said.
He stated, however, that the concert would go on last night since there were other big names on the bill. However those persons who wanted a refund would be accommodated.
It was in May this year that Kartel was banned from Grenada for the event, Rap-it-Up, which was to mark the official launch of his Daggerin condoms in that island. Government officials reportedly refused to issue a work permit because of his violent lyrics.
MIAMI(AP) — Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton is facing charges that he attempted along with others to buy a large quantity of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer.
A U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit says Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, traveled to Sarasota last week to make the purchase along with two others. The DEA was tipped off by a confidential informant who agreed to wear a recording device during the drug negotiation session.
Talk about life imitating art. Here is Buju in a scene from the video of "Driver A"- telling the driver "I wan you carry dis round de road fi mi".
Banton, 36, faces a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine, which carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence. Banton was being held at Miami's downtown detention center Monday pending transfer to Tampa, where the case is being prosecuted.
A bail hearing was set for Wednesday in Miami federal court. The attorney handling that for Banton didn't immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.
According to the DEA affidavit, Banton contacted the confidential informant last Monday about a possible cocaine purchase. The next day, Banton and other men met with the informant at Sarasota's La Tropicana de Havana restaurant, where the DEA and local police had set up surveillance.
Banton allegedly arrived at the meeting in his silver Land Rover with the license plate "Jah One," according to the affidavit.
Eventually, the group went to a warehouse authorities had outfitted with audio and video recording devices to make the cocaine deal. An undercover police officer pulled out one brick of the 20-kilogram load, according to the DEA, and one of Banton's associate's sliced it open with a knife.
Banton, according to the affidavit, "instantly wiped the blade of that knife with his finger and placed that finger in his mouth in what appeared to be an attempt to taste the cocaine." After two more meetings at local restaurants between the informant and Banton's associates, authorities arrested the associates and then took Banton into custody Thursday in Miami.
The husky-voiced Banton has been a major star in his native Jamaica since the early 1990s with brash dancehall music and, more recently, a traditional reggae sound. His career has been stunted in the United States because of his attitude toward gays, including songs "Batty Rider" and "Boom Bye Bye" which glorify the shooting of gay men.
Jah Kno Starrrrrrr......this is just messed up man.

Rihanna got herself a new tat. It is below her right collabone and says "Never a failure, always a lesson" -backwards. She got it done at East Side Ink (NYC) at 2 AM last Monday.
According to the tatoo artist Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy:
“Never a failure, always a lesson” tattooed backwards near her right shoulder.
That way she can read it in the mirror.I asked her why she wanted that and she
said, ‘It’s kind of my motto in life for everything.’ Instead of considering
things to be mistakes, considering them lessons. She said that she wanted to do
it in gray, rather than black, because she wanted it to be more subtle. She
didn’t want it to draw too much attention.”

Buju Banton Behind Bars in Miami...you won't believe for what
Mark Myrie better known as Buju Banton was arrested in Miami under posession charges. His been under a significant amount of pressure from gay rights advocates who most recenlty are asking for a boycott of his Reggae Album Grammy nomination.
According to The Miami Herald:
Buju Banton, the Jamaican reggae star whose anti-gay lyrics have drawn
international criticism, is in a federal lockup in Miami, facing drug conspiracy
charges.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents say Banton, real name Mark
Anthony Myrie, has been in custody since Thursday and will soon be transferred
to Tampa, where the U.S. Attorney is charging him with conspiracy to possess
with intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine.Banton has homes both in Jamaica and Tamarac. While legions of dancehall reggae enthusiasts view Banton as one of the most prolific voices of Jamaica's poor masses, critics say he's a gay basher whose lyrics incite violence by calling for attacking and torturing homosexuals. His song Boom Bye Bye, a dance-hall hit released in the 1990s, advocates shooting gays in the head and setting them on fire.
As late as September, Banton's local management told The Miami Herald that the criticism of the star was unwarranted because he had stopped singing the song years ago. The song remains a hit among reggae DJs.Still, such lyrics have made Banton one of the more controversial reggae artists, with angry gay activists this fall forcing the cancellation of a string of concerts by the artists during a U.S.
tour that included a Halloween night concert in Miami.Recently the firestorm
ratched up after the Grammys announced that Baton's album Rasta Got Soul,
released earlier this year, was up for an award.Gay Men of African Descent
and the National Black Justice Coalition joined with the Gay & Lesbian
Alliance Against Defamation in a petition drive protesting the nomination.
Fcuk! Cocaine?????? I hope that is a conspiracy eh. Rasta don't smoke coke! I am not sure what this means for his career, but I am a HUGE Buju fan and I hope that he releases a statement soon. This is crazy....sheesh.
Swizz Beatz and Mashonda exchange words on Twitter: Can you guys grow the fcuk up????????Please?
It's 2009 soon to be 2010 and there is no doubt that this is the information age, where in mere seconds, news is spread via text, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and Youtube. It is digged, Stumbled upon and more. So its no suprise to see or hear celebs giving their opinions online. If fact for the most part I welcome it, as some of my posts are directly sourced from information these artists post. I think that there is a line that must be drawn at some point though and Swizz Beatz just crossed it, and so did Mashonda.
Basically he posted his fustration at being called out for cheating on his wife with Alicia Keys. According to his tweets, he was separated for two years so he did nothing wrong plus he is a good dad and no one is commending him for that. See it here below:
Then Mashonda responds basically confirming what everyone already knows and which Swizz admits to - he was still married.

Carnival in Trinidad- the splendour, the enjoyment, ‘de bacchanal and musical mayhem- it all kicks into first gear with one of the biggest fetes born and bred in T&T.
The annual Fire Fete seals the deal and sets the pace with a cast of super soca entertainers and musicians each year. In 2010 the event will transcend boundaries of the past decade, as organizers move to provide the music, venue, entertainment and security that patrons from all spectrums of society, demand and deserve.
Each year, Fire Fete has the first say on whose music will lead the way at events throughout the season. In 2010, one name that’ll be on everyone’s lips is Grenada’s former Road March king, Tallpree. With his 2010 J’ouvert hit, Wicked Jab penetrating the airwaves, DJ’s and radio personalities already agree that Tallpree will be everywhere in the season ahead.
Fire Fete is home to Tallpree. In 1999 he first exploded onto the scene on stage at Fire with the anthem, “Old Woman Alone.” The dance, the antics, the lyrics- all this, added to his low- keyed vocals- made Tallpree a must-se, that season. The annual, Blazing Fire Fete did it for him in 1999, sending him on, to become a household name across the Caribbean.
In 2010, he’ s hitting Fire Fete hard, again. The buzz surrounding the event has only just begun but Tallpree immediately endorsed it with his signature low-key chants, in a promo that’s already been unleashed on radio stations across T&T.
Speculation is rife as to what organizers have in store. According to insiders though, the Blazing Fire Fete 2010 will be unlike the ordinary with a cast of musicians, handpicked for not just what they sing in 2010, but how quickly they can shake the masses into motion.
Tickets for the highly anticipated ‘season-starter’ go on sale this coming Friday, December 11th.
Patrons seeking further info, can log on to Facebook- keyword ‘Fire Fete 2010.’
The Lime has chronicled Christina Milian's romance with Terius "The Dream" Nash and made mention of thei intimate wedding ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas at Midnight Friday Sept. 4th. She had on a $200 rented gown and him a tuxedo rented for a hundred bucks.
Well after that they went to Rome, Italy where in front of family and friends they exchanged vows. It took place on Sept. 13th at the Hilton. Here is the first pic from that day. Christina looks great (thank God she got rid of that blond hair) but what in the heck is he rocking?????
And as if that was not enough, friends/family who couldn’t make the trip to Rome will be invited to the renewal of their vows this time next year when the expecting parents celebrate their first anniversary.

So the fueding between Mavado and former Alliance member Vybz Kartel has seemingly ended with a show of unity at the West Kingston Jamboree. This is a long time coming as several community leaders and members of the general public have been calling for an end to the beef and the division it has caused. I for one am happy that it is done. Can you imagine going to an event and depending on the location or the DJ Mavado songs of Kartel songs are prohibited??? I like them both so this is good news for me personally. The duo met this morning with Prime Minister Bruce Golding, along with three Government Ministers – Daryl Vaz (Information Minister), Andrew Holness (Education Minister) and Dwight Nelson (National Security Minister) – and political ombudsman, Bishop Herro Blair.
They discussed a number of matters relating to the Gully/Gaza saga and Jamaica’s music industry, but most importantly, both artistes verbally agreed to stop performing and recording lyrics that insult each other. They also agreed that they would not ‘clash’ at this year’s Sting stage show. Both artistes will also collaborate in organizing a peace concert, graffiti paint out day, children’s Christmas treat, unity t-shirts and a song/recording. We'll keep you posted as this develops.

I know that this is a great move on the part of these two artists but I am wont to believe that finances also played a significant role. These guys are getting bad press, shows are being cancelled left and right, permits for events are denied or revoked. In short it is affecting their pockets. I think it was a definite lesson learned for both of them especially this weekend. Mavado was scheduled to have a grand birthday celebration in St. ann when out of the blue I'm hearing on Zip that it has been relocated to The Building in New Kingston. The same night at Usain Bolt Super Party, I am getting reports that Kartel was not allowed to perform. What is that coincidence? No sah. That is a strong-handed move from the government. I think they got the message. Hope it sticks.
Truce: Mavado and Kartel's public show of peace at West Kingston Jamboree
Monday Morning bright and early, at the West Kingston Jamboree David Constantine Brooks AKA Mavado, calls his arch rival Adijah Palmer AKA Addi The Teacher AKA Vybz Kartel on stage in a definitely momentous show of peace, hopefully ending the much publicized musical feud which has captivated followers of Dancehall music especially Jamaicans who are divided between Gully (Mavado's Crew) and Gaza (Kartel's Crew) and their claim to domination of the current Dancehall music landscape.

According to reports, the truce was facilitated by Carlos “Dudus” Coke and their respective crews. Mavado’s manager Julian Jones-Griffith tweeted “Big up d President, a him mek it apn. ( That’s a good look) crowd loved it also 20k stron”. This is not the first time that they have had a truce . That particular event took place in Feb. 2007. In 2006 Vybz left Alliance of which both him and Mavado were members and proteges of Bounty Killer. Prompting the diss songs between the two. Due to the ensuing violence that occured between supporters of Mavado and those of Vybz Kartel, the truce was called.
There has been talks of hopes of a collaboration for some time now. Most recent was Mavado's inviting Kartel to his birthday party on Dec . 5th (Mavados birthday is actually Nov. 30th). that night Kartel was scheduled to perform at Usain Bolt's Super Party.
Peep the video of the West Kingston Jamboree below:
Charity is at the heart of Usain Bolt's Star-Studded 9.58 Party!
The 9.58 SuperParty will feature an exceptional blend of music, top class achievers and performers combined with the spirit of giving, and uniquely packaged in an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime party experience.
In addition to celebrating , Usain who is a major giver to the United Way seeks to find ways to increase the contributions that he can make to charities which involve the development of youth and sports, as well as other needy projects. Proceeds from the SuperParty will be channeled through the United Way to be distributed among the projects with which he has aligned himself. A significant percentage of the proceeds will also go into assisting with the purchase of land for a health centre in his hometown of Sherwood Content, which now faces the possibility of losing its home.
In addition to the above, Usain takes his self-appointed task of promoting his home Jamaica to the world very seriously, and tries to do this in every way that he can. He will be inviting persons from all over the world to come and experience Jamaica and to get to know the country which he holds so dear. The event will be a party and concert featuring a range of high quality international acts as well as top Jamaican artistes. The night will feature pulsating reggae and dancehall music mixed in with hip hop and R & B. Stars who have been contacted for performance include Rhianna, Akon, Damian Marley, Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Etana, Tarrus Riley, Sly and Robbie and a host of other top class performers. Incorporated into the entertainment will also be popular dancers Mystic and Sponge Bob. Highlights of the night will include an exchange of gifts between Usain and the Marley family as well as presentations of autographed gifts from Usain to invited celebrity guests. Usain himself will act as the main host of the event, randomly interacting with the audience on every level and injecting bits of his unique personality into the event.Usain will extend personal invitations to a special list of friends who he has met over the months of his athletic season, as well as to individuals who he has admired over the years and whose work and achievements he holds in very high regard. He hopes that based on their availability some of these persons will be able to attend the event and celebrate with him. Included on the list of invitees are: • Wallace Spearmon• All members of Jamaica’s 2009 World ChampionshipTeam• Michael Jordan, • Emmitt Smith, Dion Sanders• Lamine Diack • Members of the USA Athletics team• Tiger Woods • Michael PhelpsUsain is very happy with his relationship with the United Way and so will also use this opportunity to encourage other athletes and stars who are willing, to donate funds to the United Way. A small segment of the evening will be set aside to allow for these cheque presentations to the United Way representative who will be present. There is no doubt that the SuperParty will be magnificent and it is expected to attract a large audience from Jamaica and abroad. As much support as possible is being encouraged to ensure that the party meets its high objectives, and kicks off what is sure to become the most spectacular event on the annual Jamaican entertainment calendar

A Review: Pulse Caribbean's Full Fashion Reality Show Episode 3
OK, by now anyone who follows or has a small interest in the goings on of the
Michelle Smith the challenge winner!
You know how sometimes people say I looked at so-and-so on TV and I saw myself? To me sometimes it sounds so cheesy, but I found myself being drawn to these women from the first episode. I was just like yes, now that is a real woman! So from then, I vowed to follow the show, but alas episode two just flew right by me and the pics on Facebook just had to suffice. Last Friday I caught episode 3. It started out with a fitness challenge with famed Jamaican athlete Juliette Cuthbert putting the ladies through a mini boot camp. Not really, they just had to do a little jogging and jumping jacks and stretching and ting, but Lawd, you should hear dem bawl. They just looked like they wanted to collapse; of course it did make for my entertaining pleasure. Ayesha Davis probably reflected the sentiments of most of the contestants when she exclaimed “You guys are eeevilll,” but Carleen Taylor was a champion, saying she “is taking it in stride” and she “loves it!” Go girl! Cindy Lyons who is a diabetic got dizzy but she still pulled through. Side note: I thought I had too much meat for a sports bra, but yeah some of them put that in perspective for me. My complaints have now ceased!
In the next challenge the ladies had to apply the moves from 'boot-camp' in a photo-shoot with Giovanni Powell. This was done in pairs, I assume in an effort to not only test their creativity, but to see how well they work with others. Well in the meantime, unbeknown to them, a secret challenge was taking place where four ladies, Soshonna Campbell, Jodie-Ann Thomas, Georgia White and Kemelee Swaybee had to convince Romae to “gi dem a bly’ so to speak. All but
Yeah, so you should see attitude when the newbie’s showed up. Hear Marsha Robotham nuh, the new girls are “bigger.” Oh, please. Don’t be such a hater! And Romae thought it would be a “fun” surprise? Well, the fun started for me when they went to Hobby Hut Pet Store in Ligunea for the next challenge, each lady taking pictures with a snake, hamster, or iguana. Oh gosh, to see big woman cry! I mean mascara-running-down face-cheeks-getting-red-nose-wan-run kind of cry, you know. And see Ms. Marsha. Ha!God doh like ugly girl- that’s what you get for calling those girls “big”- fraid of de likkle snake. Stupes.
How did this picture not make honorable mention??? Do over!-Zodian Howell
And then it was time for judging. Kingsley Cooper (Pulse CEO), Romae Gordon(Pulse GM) and Chester Francis Jackson (of Social something or the other- I forget, sorry) started off by giving honourable mention to some of the ladies for their shots. Kenisha Lewis (on TV the face painting just did not look good but her FB pic is nice), Tadesha Snow (iguana yeah! Face paint, nay!) and Simone Clayton (I like her expression) and Ayesha Dawes( she was the only one that smiled!). The pet shop owner picked Yolande Smith for honourable mention and the other Smith: Michelle was the challenge winner and deservedly so. Of course some ladies had to leave and they were: Zodian Howell who to me had the baddest pic. I mean the snake looked like it was going right in her eye and she just fixed her gaze on the camera and did her thing. Naw man, bring her baaaaak! Next was Renice Emmanuel who said she had fun and got to make new friends (I think she meant the other ladies); Soshana Campbell, who now wants a pet iguana; and Kemelee Swaybee, who I liked but the photo just was not that great Her face painting and the hamster were the same colour so it should have been wicked nice but it wasn’t.
One thing I noted, all the drama queens stayed. I know drama makes for good TV, but does it make a good model/employee? I guess I’ll just have to tune in tonight to see.
Look out for Ayesha Dawes on tonight's show!
Good luck to all the ladies who remain: Ayesha Dawes, Carlene Taylor, Cindy Lyons, Kayedine Kirlew, Alicia Lewis, Marsha Simone, Michelle Smith, Nadine Nomdarkham, Simone Clayton, Tadesha Snow, Yolande Smith, Jodie-Ann Thomas and Andrene Smith.
