According to One876 entertainment gun charges against David Brooks better known as Mavado, as well as his co-defendant, Sameer Coombs were dropped when he appeared in court last Thursday (June 5th). Jamaica's Director of Public Prosecutions signed a letter stating that the crown was not continuing proceedings against Mavado. After presentation of the letter to the court and dismissal of the charges, he was de-processed and his fingerprints destroyed. The reason for this??? Seems the witnesses were reportedly not available to give evidence in the matter surrounding an incident occurring June last year where it was alleged that Mavado and Mr. Coombs fired several shots at persons on the road.

It remains to be seen how this will affect his career as many islands as well as nations have banned him from thier countries. Mavado still has his supporters though, as his music is featured on Grand Theft Auto 4 and he is starring in the soon to be released movie What Goes Around. Of recent, he signed a deal with Nike to appear in an EPK (Electronic Promotional Kit) singing an an original track called "Faster than a bullet" to support the Jamaican effort at the 2008 Olympics, starting August 8, in China. The company also made a limited number of sneakers to help promote the campaign.

The project includes an iTunes Asafa Powell Reggae mix. Only problem with that is Usain Bolt is now the fastet man with a new 100 Meter record of 9.72 beating that 9.74 record of Powells. Footage for the EPK was directed by Ras Kassa and the song was produced by Shane Brown.
