n 1975 Michael Jackson, then a part of the Jackson Five, toured and performed in Jamaica in front of thousands of fans. The group was hosted by opposition leader and head of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Edward Seaga as they took time out to visit the country's inner cities. The Jackson Five came as the opening act for the legendary Bob Marley and The Wailers and reports state that the performance was beyond expectations.

Now years later, the Jackson's have decided to revisit the country that held them and their late brother the King of Pop so close to its heart. Tito, Randy and Jackie Jackson have been confirmed to perform at the 2009 Reggae Sumfest event in Montego Bay Jamaica, as the organizers Summerfest Productions, made the grand and heartfelt decision to re-organise the show's lineup and dedicate the entire show to the memory of Michael Jackson. There is also a strong possibility that Marlon and Jermaine will also share the stage with their brothers. The Jacksons will be flown to Jamaica from California via a private jet; the Jamaica Observer reports that Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson's three children will be special guests of the Jamaican government. They will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Michael Jackson by Summerfest Productions.

Reggae Sumfest will kickoff on July 19th with its annual beach party, then goes into Dancehall Night July 23rd International Night July 24th and International Night 2 July 25th. Since the initial announcement of the performances scheduled for each night, there have been a couple pleasing adjustments. Recording stars Ne-Yo and Keri Hilson will join Jazmine Sullivan and Morgan Heritage on International Night; then the lovely Toni Braxton shares International Night 2 with Nas, Damian Jr. Gong Marley and Inner Circle among other top acts.
