I mentioned before that she was filming the movie Redemtion Paradise in Antigua on a previous post. Well filming has wrapped and it is scheduled for release by this summer. Definitely looking forward to that. She is one of my fav female Dancehall artists.Macka and Unicorn on the video set

Macka Diamond (born Charmaine Munroe) is still working on her music too. She recently released a song called "Think About It" feat Unicorn.

She was recently nominated for Best Female Artiste in this year's Excellence in Music & Entertainment (EME) awards, but lost to Spice.

Poor Leona Lewis.According to OK Magazine:

The British singer just moved into an amazing new house in LA -- then had to move right back out again because she was worried she was being stalked.

According to reports from Britain, the "Bleeding Love" star had only been in the $6 million pad in the Hollywood Hills for six days before she noticed a creepy guy hanging around the house.

The paper quotes a source as saying: “Leona had just gone to the shops to pick up some bits and pieces and was followed all the way back home by this man.

“She was completely unsettled by this and was pretty relieved to get back to the house safely. But when she looked out of the window later the man was still there, staring right at her. It freaked Leona out big time. She feared she was being stalked.”

Apparently she was so weirded out by the whole thing that she packed her bags and went back to England until the security at her new place gets beefed up a little.

According to Managing director of Vibe Entertainment Management AgencyYassin Matbouly “Rihanna and her management will not be accepting to hold a public concert at this time as it is not appropriate timing for her.

You guys Idris Elba is a talented singer/DJ/Producer and of course actor. I mentioned his upcoming album on a previous post. He can sing, ok!

Idris Elba has long prided himself on the ability to go from playing a Baltimore pusher to a British gangster to a bullying boss on a hit sitcom, and having audiences not recognize him as the same actor.

But that kind of anonymity is about to change for the London-born Elba, a versatile character actor best known for his role as cerebral drug dealer Russell (Stringer) Bell on HBO’s crime drama “The Wire.”

In the new thriller “Obsessed,” in theaters now, Elba has a leading role opposite one of the biggest music stars around: He plays Beyoncé Knowles’ cheating husband in a sordid tale of a successful businessman whose fling with a sexy, psychotic co-worker (Ali Larter, of TV’s “Heroes”) leads to all sorts of nasty business.

It’s a potential breakout role that the 36-year-old Elba says he has been preparing for since he lived in New York in the early 2000s and spent too many years scraping by as a struggling actor and club deejay.

“I’ve built my career brick by brick, but I didn’t start off saying, ‘Oh, I’m going to try to do as many different types of roles as possible,’ ” says Elba, who last year was a London thief in Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla,” and currently plays Steve Carell’s no-nonsense supervisor on NBC’s “The Office.”

“I just start off every job saying, ‘Okay, this is very different from the last one,’ and take it from there.”
Starring alongside Beyoncé, who’s better known for her singing than her acting chops, proved a different challenge for the more experienced Elba.

“Beyoncé was very open about us working together on building our characters and building the authenticity of our marriage in the film,” says Elba, who began his career 15 years ago in a string of British TV series.

“We definitely leaned on each other to make that happen. But the great thing about people like Beyoncé, who do one thing and are trying to do other things, is that she isn’t afraid to ask questions. She isn’t afraid to tell you that she’s naive about certain things, and that was refreshing. She would accept my advice or not accept it, but it was definitely a partnership.”

Ironically, Elba could have turned to the mega-music star for a little career advice himself. The former club deejay has a burgeoning music career in addition to his acting. He has produced and composed songs for the likes of Jay-Z and Angie Stone, cut a four-song EP in 2006 titled “Big Man,” and is working on a CD of his own that he hopes to release this year.

“It’s me stepping out from behind the turntables and into the room and just putting some music together,” says Elba.

“It’s a hybrid of hip hop meets reggae, meets soul, meets jazz. I do a little singing, a little rapping, a little talking. I’ve been doing this for so long, I just feel like I owe it to myself to push the music out there.”
Yet despite all those months they spent together on the set of “Obsessed,” Elba insists he never once asked ­Beyoncé for any feedback on his music.

“I’m too proud, basically,” he says, laughing. “I’ve been deejaying long enough to know the difference between a good record and a bad one, so I just figured I’m going to do it myself.

“But that said, Beyoncé is the kind of person that would say, ‘Yo ’Dris, let me hear what you got, let me see what you’re doing,’ and maybe steer me in the right direction — if I had asked,” says Elba, laughing again. “But I didn’t.”

I'm not surprised he never asked for her input. It just does not seem like his style.

Director Perry Henzell's classic film, The Harder They Come, will have a revival of sorts in the United States this summer with a re-release in theatres on the east and west coasts.

The 1973 movie, starring Jimmy Cliff, was shown last weekend in Cambria, California at the Painted Sky Recording Studios.

Airali Borealis, the man behind the Cambria screenings, says he plans to host the movie once a week at the Painted Sky. The official west coast premiere is scheduled for Los Angeles in July.

The Harder They Come revealed corruption in Jamaica's music business and the 'runnings' in Kingston's tough ghettoes. Cliff starred as Ivanhoe Martin, a country boy who travels to the city to make it as a singer.

Underground hit

The movie was an underground hit in the United States where it was released in 1973, playing to appreciative audiences in major cities such as New York, Boston and Los Angeles.

It is credited with helping to introduce Jamaican pop culture to an international audience.

Fashion history will be re-written when Saint international stages its annual StyleWeek Jamaica/Kingston Fashionweek spectacular May 28-31.

This year, the agency will take the bold step of presenting Haute Couture Collection from Paris, the long acknowledged home of high fashion.

This year, fashionistas will be treated to a special showing of the collection from respected French couturier Eymeric Francois will be on show at the International Mecca Of Style on May 30.

"This is a coup détat, it's the first time real haute couture-the super exclusive range accessible only to a handful of the world's super rich will be seen on Caribbean soil,' admitted an understandably beaming Deiwght Peters, head of Saint International, producers of the event.

So I turned the big 3-0 last Sunday, that's April 26th to be precise. Anyways I did not do anything really to celebrate. It was just another day. Grateful for it, yes. Thank you Jah. But really what does 30 feel like? Huh?? It's pretty much the same as 29 and 3/4.... Anyways, I knew this weekend would be action packed and I have definitely been living it up as they say. So Friday I did my thing singing at Fort Young Hotel Happy Hour, passed at Garaway Hotel for Karoke, swing at Garage (where apparently Da'ville had just been before me) and then enjoyed Fanatik band at the Cove for Pioneer Preps Wine and Dance fundraising event. This was my first year at Wine and Dance. Oh Lawwd you should see people drinking from the bottles, people just deliriously happy. Yeah there was a little fisticuffs but that's not even worth getting into. Overall most people can say they had a ball. After that it was Spiders for some fish pie and fried chicken. Trust me at 3Am nothing tastes better!!!!!

So Saturday comes around and I stop at Michele Henderson's show at the Cove. Pics soon come. Here's a little teaser......



...And then it was on to the official opening party of Krazy Koconuts (formerly Green Grasshopper) for the all black affair featuring Da'Ville. Damn...and was it a show!!!!! He gave it his all eh......pics to follow ....




Well I wanted to go to the car show on the port, but I think I had a little too much fun last nite so I am just resting till showtime tonite. I will be performing with Esclav Band. Hope to see some of you there!!!

She will first hit the masses at the Best of the Best concert in Miami in May, where she'll share the stage with Rick RossT-Pain, and represent as the only soca act on the dancehall/hip-hop bill. Her tour dates for the summer include stops to celebrate Caribana in Toronto, Crop Over in Barbados, and Notting Hill Carnival in London, just to name a few of the world's biggest music festivals.

While in New York, Destra met with members of the media, including TRACE TV, was featured on Irie Jam Radio and on New York's urban mainstream giant HOT97, with Jabba, D Life and Bobby Konders. She also headlined at PACE University last Friday, then shocked the crowd at Caribbean Fridays at Club Element with an impromptu performance.
