The Jamaica government says it hopes to restructure Air Jamaica to prepare it for divestment by the first quarter of 2009.
A minister in the Ministry of Finance, Don Wehby, called the decision politically difficult but said the government could no longer afford to prop up the ailing state-owned carrier.
