Wyclef Jean to enroll at Berklee College of Music
Photo sourceWell actually he did it before I went on the site, (at the Congressional Black Caucus Phoenix Awards in Washington DC actually)but that was just so serendipitous , if that is the word, lol. I love it when someone walks the talk, man. Good luck Wyclef I know you are gonna make a big impact on more than just the school.
According to Clef:
"I am enrolling in Berklee College in Boston to get my bachelor's degree in music! That's how important education is to me. I plan to work with Rev. Sharpton because that's how important stressing the importance of education to children is to me."
And check him out in this video below. He is doing a photo shoot for Western Union for his upcoming gift card for the holidays to benefit Yele Haiti.
Mashonda writes an open letter to Alicia Keys. waw!

The Twitter post was in response to atweet of Keys: "Having a heated debate n the studio. Question is…N love is it better to go 4 the choice that is ‘SMART’ or the choice that has ‘SPARK’??” Mashonda answered the question, but not before she put her thoughts on the table. Seems like she is very hurt, so I don't know what to make of her attending his birthday party thrown by Keys. Read on and make your own decisions.

Here they are in an Allure Magazine fashion spread. Sessilee is on the right.Photo source
They are both in Milan. How much fighting can you do backstage where there are a ton of people and you barely have time to undress and redress. I personally don't believe the hype. Sessilee Lopez has roots in the Dominican Republic. To learn more about her go to her very frequently updated site by clicking HERE.

John Travolta testifies in Bahamian extortion trial.
[John] Travolta is the star witness at the trial of two people — paramedic Tarino Lightbourne and former Bahamian Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater — who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from the movie star. Both defendants pleaded innocent to extortion charges at the trial that began Monday in this island chain off the Florida coast.
Photo sourceTravolta testified that he and Preston were awakened by a nanny around 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 2, the day of Jett’s death. Travolta said when he went downstairs, another caretaker was doing chest compressions and he began administering breathing help.
Travolta also said — apparently for the first time in public — that 16-year-old Jett was autistic, confirming speculation that had swirled for years. The developmental disorder is frequently accompanied by seizures.
“He was autistic. He suffered from a seizure disorder,” Travolta told the jury when asked about his son’s condition.
The actor said Jett suffered seizures every five to 10 days. He said the seizures would last 45 seconds to a minute and Jett typically slept for 12 hours after each one.

New Michael Jackson song for release Oct. 12th
A new Michael Jackson song entitled "This Is It" will be released as a single on Oct. 12, Sony Music Entertainment announced today (Sept. 23).
Photo sourceThe song -- which features backing vocals by Michael's brothers, the Jacksons -- is part of a two-disc album of music inspired by the upcoming "This Is It" film, which chronicles Jackson's final days rehearsing for his comeback concerts before his death."This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows -- that Michael is one of God's greatest gifts," said John McClain, who co-produced the album and is also a co-executor of Jackson's estate.
The "This Is It" double album will be released worldwide on Oct. 26 and in North America on Oct. 27. Two versions of the new song appear on its first disc, which also features original masters of Michael Jackson's hits in the order in which they appear in the movie. The album's second disc features previously unreleased versions of more Jackson hits, as well as a previously unheard spoken word poem entitled "Planet Earth."
Sony Pictures' "This Is It" film hits theaters on Oct. 28 for a two-week run.

German premiere of Bob Marley's documentary to coincide with legend's 65th birthday
The authorised Bob Marley documentary will still premiere in Germany for Marley's 65th birthday amidst reports that production was stalled due to changes in directors.
Photo source"It is in the post-production stages and shall premiere at the Berlin Film Festival next February," Janice Allen, film manager at Jamaica Trade and Invest (JTI), told the Observer. "We are still in discussion as to when it will be premiered in Jamaica."
JTI had facilitated the acquisition of documentation needed to commence filming on the island, including licences, and permits Allen said.
The Berlin Festival is one of the world's leading film festivals. Founded in 1951, the festival has been celebrated annually in February since 1978.
US media reports last month stated that Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme was the second major director to leave the project, following Martin Scorsese. Scorsese directed the iconic Bob Dylan documentary.
"I am not aware of that," stated Allen, who was briefed by Cinecom, the local arm of the production team.
US producer Steve Bing has been working closely with the Marley family in order to portray the life of the reggae legend, who is referred to as the Che Guevara of music.
Allen said that the documentary was important not only to the Marley family but to Jamaica as it would "tell how he impacted the world".
JTI helped facilitate the 99 films made in Jamaica over the 2008/9 fiscal year, which was a 20 per cent decrease over the previous year. Even with the reduction, these projects earned six per cent more at $480 million. Indeed, more money was made from fewer films but many projects were foreign-based and their profits would have been repatriated. The number of persons employed remained stable at some 2,000 persons.
Film projects include feature films, television commercials, television productions, music videos, documentaries, television series, concerts, festivals and special events.
Hundreds of thousands attend Juanes Concert for Peace in Cuba!
Article from Boston.com:
Hundreds of thousands of Cubans flocked to Revolution Plaza yesterday for an open-air “peace concert’’ headlined by Colombian rocker Juanes, an event criticized by some Cuban-Americans who said the performers lent support to the island’s communist government simply by showing up.

Organizers said they expected as many as a half-million people to attend the four-hour concert under a broiling Havana sun, making the Colombian heartthrob’s visit the biggest by an outsider since Pope John Paul II’s 1998 tour.
Hundreds of public buses ferried young and old to the concert site, and the government laid on even more transportation, hoping for a large turnout. Most concertgoers wore white - to symbolize peace - and some held up signs reading “Peace on Earth’’ and “We Love You Juanes.’’
“We are going to stay as long as we have the strength,’’ said Cristina Rodriguez, a 43-year-old nurse accompanied by her teenage son, Felix.
Across the Florida Straits, Juanes has endured death threats, CD smashing protests, and boycotts since his decision to hold the “Peace Without Borders’’ concert in Havana. Police in Key Biscayne, Fla., kept watch over the homes of both the rocker and his manager, Fernan Martinez Maecha.
Still, the criticism from Florida was far from universal. Spanish-language stations covered the event, and several exile groups have voiced support, describing the concert as a rare chance for Cubans to get a glimpse of the outside world.
Some Cuban officials used the opportunity to deride US foreign policy toward Cuba, and the 47-year trade embargo in particular. But Juanes has insisted the concert was about music, not politics.
“It is one more grain of sand for improving relations through art,’’ the singer said.

marie-claire's Caribbean Billboard Interview
Introducing iNDRANi -The Soul of Barbados

With a voice of honey, a message for the soul, and often a guitar in hand, the
music of songbird, iNDRANi is a welcome breath of fresh air.
“While other female singers have been busy copying the latest version of the
American male’s fantasy, Indra has been digging deep into her Caribbean
roots
in order to find that which is closest to her spiritually and
musically. When all is
said and done, it’s all about the music, and iNDRANi
to my mind has
demonstrated that she has learned her trade well. In every
department she
ranks among the best there is, and I find no difficulty in
saying, that across all
entertainment disciplines, she is the best and most
naturally gifted female artist
to have arrived on the Caribbean
entertainment scene. Hopefully it won’t be too
long before the rest of the
world acknowledges that the same should be said for
everywhere." [EDDY GRANT
– Music Icon]
iNDRANi’S talent for singing and songwriting was instantly recognized by
Grammy nominated producer, JEFF GLIXMAN (StarCity Recording), who bought
her first guitar. She went on to release two albums “Ringbang 4 Kids!” a family
album, and “Most Divine,” with the Ice Records label of her music mentor, EDDY
GRANT. She is also the published author of “The Human Bean – 15 Lessons in
Self-Evaluation & Finding Your Purpose,” spicy page-turner – an autobiography,
"The Butterfly...Secrets of A Woman," and “The Search For Soul.”
The signature voice of iNDRANi can be heard on over 1,000 songs, on hits by
artists: EDDY GRANT, GABBY, R.P.B., MR. VEGAS, ALISON HINDS, MACHEL
MONTANO, EDWIN YEARWOOD, NATAHLEE, PATRICE ROBERTS,
SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER, MR. LEXX, RUPEE, MR. DALE, BIGGIE IRIE,
FARMER NAPPY, LIL RICK, and many others.
Known for her experience in the music industry, iNDRANi was one of 2 chosen
to represent the Caribbean at the United Nations “World Summit on The
Information Society,” in Geneva, as well as one of 20 artistes invited to attend
the Caribbean Music Expo/UNESCO “Artists in Development,” in Jamaica.
In addition to a thriving singing career, iNDRANi has been slated as one of the
leading vocal coaches in the region, and is also a dancer with Sankofa Multi-Arts
Productions, She has toured throughout Europe, North America, and the
Caribbean extensively, with HD [MACHEL MONTANO] and FUZION [ÀJA.]
Currently, she spearheads Island Moon Magic, a project studio and its affiliate music-publishing company, and is preparing to star in an upcoming
dramatic production. Upon completion of Music Publishing training with The Berklee School Of Music, she secured a film placement, and released a
track, entitled, “It’s You,” with top producer, CHRIS ALLMAN. “To The Other Side”, the first single from album #3, is due for release in September of
2009, as iNDRANi prepares for the next step in her evolution, bringing forth music for the soul-from the heart.

Will Sean Paul be the next artist sporting a fashion line????

In town promoting his latest album, Imperial Blaze, Sean Paul dropped by the Rosa Chá swimsuit show at Bryant Park yesterday. But he wasn't just there to admire the skimpily attired models — he's a budding designer! He told us he's considering doing a line of his own of baseball caps. He showed us the one he was wearing, featuring a tree he drew with a Sharpie and had embroidered into the fabric (see photo). “I’ve done a couple of designs, and I’m planning to do some hats for next year,” he said. But that’s where his fashion aspirations stop — don’t expect a William Rast anytime soon. The caps were “just something for me to draw on while I was in planes and waiting on stuff. You wait a lot in this career.”
