Date: Sunday May 31stLOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Los Angeles police have agreed to return the $1.4 million worth of jewelry that pop star Rihanna was wearing the night her R&B singer boyfriend Chris Brown is accused of assaulting her, Rihanna's lawyer said on Wednesday.
The earring and three rings that Rihanna was wearing were on loan to the "Umbrella" singer, who had attended a pre-Grammy party with Brown hours before the Feb 8 incident. They were taken by police as evidence in the case.
The designers asked for the bling to be returned and lawyer Donald Etra told a Los Angeles judge at a hearing on the assault case that police will first photograph them before handing them back.
Brown is charged with attacking Rihanna in their rented car on their way home from the party. He was not in court on Wednesday. He is free on bail pending a possible trial next month when he could be given probation or up to five years prison if convicted.
The CEMAs, comprising technical assistance and business linkage inputs, will be provided over the next 18 months to inter-country production teams with a regional outreach during a phased programme corresponding to the main stages of the filmmaking process.
The objective is to facilitate the development of CARIBFilm DreamTeams to whom direct help will be given in their collective work of transforming their creative ideas into finished products as benchmarks for meeting global standards.
The film products of the teams will be presented for screening before a group of invited international film directors at a Caribbean film festival in 2010. At that time, all the other film production teams that responded to the initial Call for Proposals will still be able to present their own finished products for screening and to compete for the Jury´s Special Prize, the Critics´Choice and the Public´s Choice. Along with the CEMA holders, the winners and their products will together form the CARIBFilm DreamTeams fllmpack. As an integral part of CEMAs, this collective output will then be promoted through the media and at regional and international film festivals as well as to potential distributors and producers for co-production ventures.
To apply interested parties should consult guidelines for the preparation and submission of Proposals www.creativeindustriesexchange.com which will open effectively on 7 April 2009 and close at 24:00 hours midnight 12 May 2009, Eastern Caribbean time.

N.Y. Rapper/producer Swizz Beatz has been tapped by Hennessy V.S. to help launch a new, limited line of cognac, called Hennessy Black. The rapper will perform an original song, "When I Step Into the Club," alongside the JabbaWockeez of "America's Best Dance Crew" during a launch event in New York on May 5. An accompanying video by director Hype Williams will be revealed as well. "Beatz is a long-time fan of the brand and approached us looking for ways we could work together. Since this product is all about having fun in the club, he suggested collaborating on a track that would be a hot dance song in the clubs," Andy Glaser, senior VP of Hennessy Business, tells Billboard.biz. Hennessy will launch a dance contest titled "Up/Down" on their YouYube channel, where consumers will be able to create and post their own "Up/Down" dance for a chance to be flown to LA, where Williams will film and cut them into a new version of the video to "When I Step In the Club."
Hennessy Black, the company's first major launch since 1961, will be available in 10 markets throughout the U.S. including Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, New York City, Ohio, Washington DC and Massachusetts. The company hopes the new drink - which has a blend of Jasmine, daffodils and orange flowers mixed with citrus, honey and grapes - will take the Hennessy brand beyond the cognac category to the premium mixed spirits.
The drink will come to market with a variety of mixed drink recipes, including: Hennessy Black ice (with lemon juice and sugar); Hennessy Black Bull (coffee Liqueur and cola with ice); Hennessy Black Spice (ginger, syrup and lemon juice); and Hennessy Black Royale (champagne, lemon juice and syrup). "Today is an ideal time to launch a new product -- consumers are increasingly seeking new and different ideas that can excite them," says Glaser, adding that the Hennessy Artistry program which blends music, cultures and drink

The channel, to be named Centric and scheduled to make its debut in October, will be formally announced at an event for advertisers Thursday night. Centric will complement BET, executives say, by appealing to an older and more affluent audience.
The 29-year-old BET, available in 89 million homes, is the dominant network for black audiences. It attracts roughly four times as many viewers as TV One, its main competitor, which is owned by Comcast and Radio One and available in about 47 million homes. BET, with its reality shows, movies and music videos, primarily draws a teenage and young adult audience.
Cable channel start-ups are rare. With hundreds of channels already in operation, new ones often struggle to earn a spot on cable lineups, but Viacom said it would be able to assemble 45 million homes for the premiere of Centric.
Viacom executives would not comment on whether BET J, a small music-oriented offshoot of the network, would be affected by the formation of Centric. And you know that's where Caribbean artists/shows/videos get most airplay right?
As Viacom considered the 25- to 54-year-old target demographic for Centric, it realized that “a perfect example would be” Barack and Michelle Obama, said Scott Mills, the president of BET.
Centric will be operated jointly by the BET and MTV Networks divisions of Viacom. Viacom’s channels include Nickelodeon and MTV. Doug Creutz, an analyst for Cowen & Company, called the niche strategy valid but incremental. “They’re not going to hit any home runs doing this, but it can grow their reach over time,” he said.
Mr. Creutz said the African-American adult audience had “been underserved,” and pointed to the series of successful movies by Tyler Perry as evidence that “there’s money to be made at targeting that audience.”“When I met with Sarah Brown at Downing Street over a year ago, she explained in detail the staggering statistics around maternal mortality. I was deeply moved. We decided I would host Fashion For Relief 2008 in aid of the White Ribbon Alliance,” explains Campbell, who has helped to attract new supporters worldwide. “It is with great pride that I accept my role as global ambassador. I hope you will join me in continuing to support the important work of the White Ribbon Alliance.”
Brigid McConville, UK director for White Ribbon Alliance, adds: “Naomi will be a great ambassador for White Ribbon Alliance because she is the embodiment of this great spirit of creativity, positive energy and womanhood.”

Since late March, Rihanna, 21, has been trying to recover the borrowed jewelry from the LAPD, who took the items into evidence in their investigation.
"Since there appears to be no evidentiary value to the continued holding of this jewelry ... we respectfully [ask] the court to order the return of this property to [Rihanna] without further delay," her lawyer Donald Etra wrote in a court request filed earlier this week.
The items were described as two yellow metal hoop earrings with white stones; one yellow metal ring with white stones and green stones; and two yellow metal rings with white stones.
"If the DA doesn't need the items, and the LAPD doesn't need the items, there's no reason why they shouldn't be returned," Etra tells PEOPLE.
A source adds that Rihanna also borrowed a Gucci dress for the Feb. 7 Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party she attended, which also has not been returned.
Etra states in the documents that the owners of the jewelry were going to hold Rihanna liable if the accessories weren't returned, with the total cost and damages related to their late return as more than $1.4 million.
According to the court papers, the LAPD detective on the case referred Etra to the prosecutor on the case, who apparently has not responded to requests for the jewelry's return.
"At this stage, we're not even sure what evidence is going to be entered into the case," DA spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons tells PEOPLE. "For now, we don't have any further comment on this matter."
The LAPD also declined to comment.
Brown, who has pleaded not guilty to two felony charges, has a court date of April 29.

"We are very pleased with the response we are now receiving from the Caribbean and the rest of the world, and the respect that IRAWMA has been getting," states Ephraim Martin, President of Martin's International and Associates. "When we think back 28 years ago, there was no form of recognition for reggae or world music entertainers. Today, from all corners of the globe, world beat music entertainers now have their special awards to look forward to each year."
The 28th IRAWMA kicks off at 6:00pm for VIP ticket holders, and 7:30pm for general admission. This year the ceremony takes place at the state-of-the-art York College Performing Arts Center, located at 94-45 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens.

The singer only found out the baby news on Friday-because she'd been in HOSPITAL after collapsing from a three-day booze bender in St Lucia. But just one day after being discharged she was back drinking at a beach bar in a black-and-white bikini and purple headscarf when she heard.
She shrieked: "That better be a mistake or I'll beat his head in."
She distressed staff and other holidaymakers with her bizarre reaction to our exclusive story last week that Blake Fielder-Civil had got a fellow rehab patient pregnant-denting his bid to win half Amy's £10million fortune in a divorce settlement.
Amy, 25, at first wrongly presumed Blake's girlfriend was the mum-to-be. Later she ranted on about how SHE was desperate to have TWIN babies.
Gripping a glass of champagne at the Cotton Bay Village resort bar, she started off by gleefully gabbling: "I knew he'd got her pregnant. I
had this feeling Blake was having a kid.
"That is amazing. It was his 28th birthday on Thursday and I knew he'd be having a kid with his girl. I don't read the papers so I didn't know anything about it." Then she paused and suddenly started crying, wailing: "Blake's got a new life away from me now, it's not anything to do with me!"
Next, Amy-sporting a heavy bruise on her left thigh-started frantically banging her chest, and declared: "I'm so glad he's having a baby! He's having a baby!
"That is so amazing! I'm not sad you know, I'm excited. I knew Blake and his new girlfriend Francesca would be able to have a normal life."
She was then told that Blake's child was conceived with heroin addict Gilleen Morris, 31, and not girlfriend Francesca Morralee, 17. Wild Amy, who split with Blake last autumn, barked: "That better be a mistake or I'll beat his head in. Oh great, he's had it with some . . . I don't wanna know- don't tell me any more."
Tears began streaming and her face screwed up as she bizarrely cried: "All I
wanna know and all I need to know is that my baby is having a baby.
"I never talk to him, I'm never going to see him again but we're like best friends.
"I have to cut him out of my life because he has to cut me out.
"My dad is suing his mum for all of the things she's said and Blake needs this divorce to come through so he can pay for the lawsuit. How f***ed up is that? So me and Blake can't be friends but you know what? He's having a kid and that is amazing."
Amy, who said last summer how she wanted five kids with Blake, then turned to one of the bar staff in floods of tears and asked: "Did you hear that?
Amy and Blake in 2007 (Photo source)
Divorce
"My soon-to-be ex-husband is expecting a child. Isn't that amazing? I love him but I love him enough to let him go.
"I see myself as single now. But you know what? I would never have divorced him. My father and his family are at war because his family don't love Blake. They love money so they try and have a go at me, I'm telling you. Me and Blake love each other but Blake can't have me. It's a sad thing if a husband and wife are sitting in a restaurant like this and someone comes up and says to him, 'Excuse me mate, take a picture of me and her will ya?'
"That's what it was like. I couldn't give Blake a whole wife because everyone knows me and everyone wants a piece of me so I have to share myself about.
"I taught the man how to love, that's why he's so beautiful. And I see him, not as having this baby for me or it being my baby too but . . ."
Then she stood up and started beating her chest again and pulling at her bikini as she declared: "My turn now, my turn now! Come on! Twins you know!
"I've got loads of twins in my family, I need to have twins. I want a big family. Twin boys first, two girls and then a baby after that can be a boy or a girl. I want it so much."
The previous day, Amy was discharged from the £440-a- night Tapion private hospital in the island's capital Castries, a 30-minute drive away. She was rushed there in a car on Wednesday after collapsing at her resort's pool.
A staff member explained: "She was partying non-stop from last Saturday all the way through to Monday and on Wednesday it just hit her.
"She was drinking champagne at the resort bar and spiced rum a few yards away at Cas En Bas beach bar and I think that's what finished her off."Amy, who was spotted drinking with a girl pal soon after her release, said: "It was scary. I think it was withdrawal symptoms from all the alcohol I had." During her latest Caribbean holiday, Amy has been befriending kids and playing with them on the beach. On Friday she built sandcastles with a little girl while oddly repeating the meaningless mantra: "I'm trying to make Mexico. I'm going to make Mexico."
Then she said: "I haven't got a visa to get into America so me and my kids make Mexico everyday in the sand."
One parent said: "It's great that she takes the time with the kids but she gets a bit intense."
Last Sunday we told how drug- addicted Blake got jobless mum-of-two Gilleen pregnant in February during secret sex sessions at the Phoenix Futures Rehab Centre in Sheffield, Yorks.
He has vowed to help raise the baby, due in November.
According to MTV UK, she is penning a song called "Ultimate Betrayal" about her reaction to the news. She is in St. Lucia recording her third album and will next month perform at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival.
Singing her praises were Richard "Richie B" Burgess, Syl Gorden (co-producer of Cell Block Records), Claude Mills (publicist), Steven Stanley and Jamaica Observer columnist Clyde McKenzie.
